Yep, the same reason I never liked the MK4 Supra. I have never understood the love for it appearance wise anyway.

I owned two, and I never cared for the front, headlights or wheels much, but the hips n ass were nice.

So is the USA getting the new 2.0L Supra. Curious how much the sport pack option will cost. Guessing the new twin should slot below this new 2.0 four banger model

Since MKIV are rare, I'm assuming you know a Josh F. up in your town who owns a black one with the TRD wing and I think a Rod Millen front lip???

The Supras I owned was between 2002-2009. I haven’t seen any Supras in town regularly. I’ve seen a white one and a red one that were both stock, and maybe I’ve seen a black one as you described once. I see more wide bodied 86’s than Supras. In general, I don’t know or hang with anyone in the car community. I haven’t since my twenties.

I just don't understand why though.

The Supra is supposed to be a 6, not a 4. For the true "fan boys" who slam it for being too BMW, it's even more blasphemous to put in a 4-cyl. That's like putting a 6 in a Vette. Fine, just call it a Celica then. Lol.

Why not move that money and research towards the next gen 86/BRZ instead, or into an future (mid-engine) MR2?

On the other hand, people may just want the looks and handling of a more prestigious Supra vs an 86 but can't afford the B58 upgrade, much like the V6 Camaros/Challengers and Ecoboost Mustangs, I guess.

There are so many comparisons already between the Supra and the twins, I can't imagine what the reasoning is behind creating TWO 2.0L different versions of a rwd Toyota sports car.

Kinda funny because the Vette had a six.

True. I stand corrected. For the first two years. However, it's been a V8 for the last 62 years though. Still...

Maybe the target market isn't the "true fan boys". In a similar vein to BMW making a fwd car. I'm suggesting most buyers won't care.

BMW already did all the engineering to stick that engine in for the lower trim Z4/international Zupra, it weighs less over the front end improving the cars balance while still being capable of >300whp with a tune and exhaust which is plenty of fun for most people in a <3200 lb car.

BMW people I know say the 4 banger is more fun to hoon.

I'm more interested in the 4cylinder Supra than the 6. Less weight, better F/R distribution, less $$$, bring it...

I'm just trying to learn and play devil's advocate.

BRZ/86 sales are at an all-time low. How will having a 4-cyl Supra going to help that or the cause for a next gen twin?

I know the B58 makes the supra "heavy" but isn't it already at a 50/50 weight distribution?
