I worked 60hrs (5 x 12hrs) last week and the same this week (hospital), and I am working 16 hours over two Sundays for a cash job as a standby medic for football.

If we were Tcoat then I would understand your statement.

Dunno, I don't quite work those hours, still don't have the time for the "endless debates" that frequently pop up on here. Guess it's those darned kids.

I wouldn’t even say UEL is a poor design; it is a different design. Most exhaust components are about sound, which is where the UEL shines on a boxer motor. It is also cheaper to design if someone doesn’t care about maximum gains, but just wants a cattless header that sounds good, and removing the cat is where much of the gains come from. Many companies offer EL and UEL for these very reasons, and some offer catted and uncatted.

Reproducing the design of the Ace with a 4-2 header and a 2-1 overpipe for much cheaper wouldn’t be hard, as any Chinese $60 header demonstrates. We could also look at the fact that Ace has a 4-1 header for $2k to see that their prices are high. I’m not saying there isn’t quality in the header, but the price per gain in horsepower isn’t there, and like you have said, it could be replicated for far less money.

Considering the Speed Academy put down 312whp on pump gas with a UEL header, pitching this header seems cool for anyone with a built motor looking to maximize their setup, but hitting 350whp (the safe limit on the stock motor) can be achieved without dropping $2300 for the Ace header and overpipe.

Yeah, this thread has been savaged. Such nice data is buried under crap. We need to apologize to @CSG Mike. I hope an admin cleans up since it is worth it.

You are in FI section. The thread title says this data is for FI. We already spent more than $5k and the engine is at the limit of boost with 12.5 compression. We need a header such that more boost can be tuned with 91-93 octane gas. Can you do this with another header? Is your engine FI?

The data isn’t buried. It is on the front page

The data is for 91/E55 UEL vs E85 Ace. Where are you getting the data for pump gas with Ace?

I think the comments against the Ace are always around cost versus reward and possibly considering if these case studies or anecdotal evidence actually approximates reality across all options. Is the Ace necessary? Is there enough difference in 10hp or whatever to justify two to three times the price? Do you even know what UEL header was used for this test? Was it catted or not?

Well, there's only two UELs sold on the CSG website. This is one of the two.

Is the Ace necessary? Only if you want maximum efficiency.

Lets clarify. It's actually 35whp more, with 3 psi less boost observed. C30hbp/Ace vs C38hbp/UEL.

Or, the C30 on std pulley makes ~10whp more, with 5.5psi less boost observed on C30 sbp/Ace vs C38 hbp/UEL.

That's pretty damn substantial!

In the end, the conclusion is always the same: The Ace delivers the best results at the highest price. Some folks don't want to spend that price, or prefer the UEL sound. To each their own!
