That's like me saying it sort of reminds me of a Ferrari because of the wheel nuts.

I'm seeing this. Perhaps something to do with the hue..

It doesn’t look like the Elise but it does look like the C8. Hahaha. Just kidding. But seriously, every comment section for every car article has someone saying “it looks just like the C8”. Even if it’s a car that went into production 5 years ago. People seem to always find some delusional way of saying two cars look the same.

86 has been around since Initial D popularized it...… (and it was merely a chassic code....the car itself is named Sprinter/Trueno or Corolla GTS in North America).

Not sure if they COULD place the Celica somewhere where it could be revived though.

Small RWD? 86 and Supra has that spot covered.
FWD? FWD compact coupes are pretty much dead, and it would most likely fit better as a 2 door Corolla coupe. And I doubt if they did that they would call it a Celica over a 2 door corolla coupe....
4WD? Is there a market for a rally style 4WD coupe?
The entire world wide media assumed the Scion FRS / Toyota GT86 was going to be called a Toyota Celica. Right up until it wasn't. It makes zero sense for Toyota not to. It would have given the car instant cache, credibility, and name recognition.

Only the older generation respects the Celia though. Younger generations only know the Celica as an underpowered FWD car. With younger people being obsessed with the whole drift scene I think it was smarter to associate it with the AE86.

I could see the Celica revived on the TNG platform, maybe even make an AWD version?! Toyota?!! Please?!! I think every version of the Celica has been great, except for the TC.

For the purpose and the vision of the twins, channeling the AE86 Trueno was the right decision.

Except young kids would buy the car no matter what. The older generation actually has money, and might burn it on a new car called a Celica. It could have helped sales.

After reading about the new Hyundai Veloster N, they really should make a version with more power. Its the only thing that would make me buy another one. I saw a 2019 white 86 the other day and I really think the 2013 version looks way better. I am not a fan of the new styling.

The new styling on the 86 has grown on me. I miss the boxer piston badge on the front quarter panels. LED headlights and taillights are also a nice upgrade.

I’m sure the Veloster N is a fun drive, the mini 3rd door is cool. Throwing extra power at a car has drawbacks though, especially FWD. I think only Honda understands that type of black magic. If the 2nd gen twins get a decent bump in power and torque, and keep it NA I will be happy. (Say 220HP 170 lb/ft). Eliminate the torque dip and it will feel so much better.
