I see. Mine was on the 22nd.
Still no chirp. So quiet even in the covered parking structure.

This is my first tank of e-free gas since the chirp developed. 1/4 tank into this one, and no chirps. I was reading an article (of course I can't find it now) where there was a discussion about ethanol mixes being a "dry" fuel as far as lubrication , and less sulfur meant the fuel had less lubrication ability for things like pumps. Dunno, but e-free gas DOES seem the cure the chirps. The pump may still be faulty but quiet. SOMEBODY with the savvy to do so PLEASE take a pump apart.

I found this website that lists where some Ethanol free fuel stations are. Hope it works for you.

I'm one of the lucky few. Never had it. My only glitch was the rattle in the back and that has been repaired.

PetroCan 94 - chirp
Shell/Esso 91 - no chirp

Brought my BRZ in for routine 5k stuff, and had the dealer here in Ottawa order me the revised fuel pump (under warranty of course)

Just purchased my Asphalt FRS two weeks ago currently at 320miles, Cricket "chirping" started yesterday googled it and came across this thread thank god. How many of you has it just gone away for? And how many just went with the replacement? I scheduled a service at the dealer for next week. Can't believe this on my brand new car. I read as many of the 51 pages I could lol.

This 100% not harm the car. The chirping is a character trait of using 91 octane not the recommended 93. Has to do with pump lubrication viscosity.
Which creates this noise. Toyota has just developed a new pump that will
Not produce this noise and operates the same. This is something will beg you to do. I didn't really care to much because I was aware of the issue and that it was harmless. But they did not want to take chances

The fix does work

Thanks great to know, I was scared that the fix may actually cause more harm than good.

If you have been reading, the chirp is caused by the ethanol in the gas, not the octane between 91 and 93. The ethanol content is what causes the lubrication issue with the pump chirping. Everyone that has gone to 0 ethanol for a tank or two has reported no chirping. Considering I've been using Chevron 93 the last 3 fuel ups, all I hear are crickets.

Also from what I've seen, a not so high success rate on the chirping going away with the "revised" pump.

x2 I have been using Sunoco 93 only for the entire 1 year/~6k miles I have had my FR-S and I have had the chirps since early on.

The nearest non-ethanol shop is 30+ miles away and I really don't feel comfortable having them rip apart my new baby decisions...decisions. I will ride out there and try the Non-Ethanol Gas see if that actually works.
