sigh, bolt on SCs usually have bypass or clutch, they do NOT affect fuel economy.

There's a pretty noticeable kind of throbbing noise in that video. It sounds kind of like when you run over expansion joints in the road. Is the noise in the video from the tires going over joints in the dyno barrel? Or is it something in the engine department?

So essentially the rules with a centrifugal blower are the same as without one when you're boosting (or in an NA vehicle, driving WOT or almost WOT) your vehicle compensates with additional fuel; with a centrifugal blower that's when you take the hit. The only reason people typically claim they've lost fuel mileage is because... well.. who supercharges a car without "spirited" driving in mind lol.

The difference is under load, a centrifugal supercharger has slightly better efficiency. |

and I laugh to when I said I was going to develop a Rotrex based kit for this car and everyone jumped on my throat about the spirit of the car and soul of the engine mumbo jumbo

i'd still wait to see if anyone can develop a roots TVS or Lysholm SC before i jump on the rotrex bandwagon. rotrex is still a centrifugal, so you still have to make the same compromises.

Awesome! Supercharger > Turbocharger in my opinion. Everybody's been asking about a turbo it seems lately; thanks HKS for giving hope for the SC fans!

Pretty much %100 correct, but, from the parts list they mention they are developing forged pistons for the kit. That alone wouldn't drop mileage, but if they lower the compression (which makes sense for a SC) that might affect the power output for a given amount of fuel at mid throttle, which trickles down into worse mileage. But more importantly, I think, is it is awesome to see options opening up and the car is not even out yet.. |
