So from what we can tell it is not too common but it does exist but from what?

As far as we can tell it is tip in knock and we have not yet determined, what it is related too. Such items we are looking at for a cause include fuel pumps, exhaust restrictions, intakes etc..., as these seem to be the differences that could be causing the problem. In the mean time we have come up with some updates to our tunes to accommodate vehicles that do happen to stumble across this problem, such as the one above and are in the final steps testing.

We have been testing the update fix for some time now to make sure it does work and have found this to resolve the problem if you are having it. We are finalizing the update so that it can be applied to all our maps so that if you do or do not have this issue it will not affect the drivability of the vehicle for any of our tuned maps.

If you have any questions please ask.

Cheers,
William Knose

I assume for me being in Phoenix non intercooled and having 91oct fuel plays a factor here. I am in hopes we can get this dialed on the dyno this weekend. I will also be doing an e85 map as well. That should help with some of the issues I am seeing. The 115 degree temps out here are making my car and tune hate itself.

If I am not mistaken, the engine rocks around the most when taking off from a stop. It is that low rpm (<1k rpms) stumble that rocks the engine.

I think my mounts are going bad guys. My OP used to rattle a little on the subframe in the <1k rpm range.... it has gotten progressively worse and worse over the past month. I don't know what to do about this damn OP except replace the mounts I guess.

I gather that it is detonation issues during the transition from light load to heavy load, but I'm not sure if its a function of the ECU not being able to respond fast enough to throttle inputs or due to tuning. In addition, I also can't tell how dangerous it is or what drivability issues it causes.
Being the ECU / vehicle are designed around a normally aspirated vehicle between quick shifts and quick blips of the throttle will be fine with no additional forced induction. So the timing curves and fuel curves will be for the most part sufficient for proper tunes. So blipping the throttle should not be an issue for the most part on normally aspirated vehicles as it is seeing no real load.

When forced induction is added the vehicles experience load/pressure on the cylinders and in turn the fueling and timing calculations need to be adjusted accordingly. With superchargers especially, boost/load can be created at the blip of a throttle (3-4 PSI of boost) and that is why some people are hearing noises in these scenarios. As we have seen with quite a few of our customers it does not happen with everyone and does seem to also relate to additional parts on the vehicle beyond the supercharger. Hard to really say exactly what is causing the scenario.

So instead of determining what exactly is creating the instances, partially the supercharger, and partially additional back pressure on the system (non stock exhaust systems) we have spent some time testing additional settings to make sure that all vehicles (with whatever parts are on the vehicle) do not experience these scenarios.

Hope that offers a slightly cleared response to my previous post.

Cheers,
William Knose

Anyone see an issue with getting a used innovate kit? is there anything that can go wrong in the install or de-install? The seller says it has only been on his car for 800 miles and is removing it because he is trading in the car.

There's really not much that can go wrong other than the intake swallowing debri and pulling it into the charger. I'd say you will be fine.

You could alsoask him for a test ride or video before he uninstalls it if you want to make sure everything is working properly.

Who would have thought that a little turbo lag could be a good thing!

I'm still getting this squeal noise when shifting above 4k, and if I decelerate it will squeal right at 3700 rpm every time.

I still haven't put my car in the air, but i'm fairly certain its not the exhaust. I shook the hell out of the motor and didn't hear my header hitting anything, and I also shook the catback and didn't hear any noise. Just stumped on wtf it is lol. It has to be something though with the exhaust - I started getting the noise once I installed my JDL header.
