Subaru keyfob paired to an FRS?

Does anyone know if the key fob for a BRZ could be paired with an FRS? I looked up the FCC numbers and they share the same number: HYQ14ACX as most Toyota models. I searched on the forums and couldn't find anything but I'm sure the question has been asked.

Be careful. From our experience, this style remote on the other Toyota models, such as the Prius and the Venza can only be programmed to one vehicle, unless you "re-seed" the system and immobilizer.

I had a customer lose his spare keys for his Prius. He balked at the price for a new one, and came back a few days later with a used one with a matching FCC number. It would not register with the Prius. He came back with his Venza, and same deal.

Not to mention, the non 10 Series cars aren't smart key equipped anyway.

The non-SKS (smart key system) keys are a lot easier to reprogram. You should be able to reprogram them with a Konami Code combination as long as you have not used up all of immobilizer slots. If you keep losing your keys you'll need to reset your immobilizer at some point.

However, for SKS keys you'll need to use techstream and order a SKS Seed Code reset code. You can look around the prius forums for more information about it. The Toyota and Subaru uses the same key systems, it's just a matter if you're using a non-SKS or a SKS.

There have been individuals who have programmed used keys on their prius with varying results.

So do you know which system to Scion with the traditional key uses?

edit: it looks like they will not be interchangeable.

There was a thread about this a while ago, but you can't use a Subaru fob with a Scion car and vice versa per MotoP. The systems are physically the same, but they aren't compatible software-wise.

I was not aware of the software differences. Thanks for correcting me.
