They look pretty similar in the photo I posted, but this photo shows better contrast between the two:
The black has a matte/textured finish, while the gunmetal is a glossy finish. |

Correct. Exactly the same color. I prefer textured finishes because they're less "blingy", but I know some people prefer something that stands out a bit more, so I went with gunmetal grey for the gloss finish. It's still a dark, muted tone so even in gloss it maintains a respectable look without appearing too flashy and it won't blind the people behind you.

Weird question, but how does the back look? Are there slots for frame? Are edges jagged?
Lol. I've seen a lot of bad frames and don't want to get stuck with one. Besides those lil things, I really like the simplicity ... |

I've been looking into having some custom badges milled (to replace the scion logo on the front with something unique), and once I saw your license plates and engraver, I got to wondering whether you could possibly cut out an oval in the same dimensions as the scion badge, then anodize/powder-coat to that same "dark bronze"/black finish, and etch in an 86-piston logo? That would look awesome as heck, be different, and seems like it'd be relatively easy. Just throw some 3M adhesive film behind it, and call it done! What do you think?
PS, I want that because racecar plate! Put FRS on the top portion, and I think you'd have a winner! Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2 |

Yes, sir! They're available via our website, and you can order them with the standard "FRS" or "BRZ" or opt to get them engraved with something personal if you like. Quote:
But a brushed aluminum badge is definitely something I want to have ready over the next month or so! |

HOLY.....I had no idea a custom engraving was an option. I've been looking for this for sometime now.
My custom engraving will be "When In Doubt..." Excuse the salt. My township spends all funding on fruitless endeavors.

I think I must be the only person who really dislikes license plate frames. I put rubber bushings behind mine and that's it.
edit: These do look nice and well-made though.

Florida plates are kinda ugly.
Ours in Illinois aren't too bad. I miss the 1984-89 era plate though, looked much better than the ones we have now.
