Well, it looks like I'll be leaving the '86 scene. I received my options today. I will be pursuing a repurchase. Should be complete in +30 days. Which is itself a huge pain, because to me that's just 30 days for a meteor to fall out of the sky and crush the car. Can't help but feel they do that on purpose. I can't believe that in 2012, it takes 30 days to return a car and do a bank transfer.

Anyway, too bad I never got to enjoy a well-running, reliable BRZ.

Later, all. Hope you get to enjoy your cars.

That is the AC clutch it puts strain on the motor causing it to work harder the smaller the motor the more noticeable it is

The day before I traded my FR-S back, the idle started going up to 900 and down to 400 (near stall) when I turned the rear defrost on. This was hardly normal I think. I don't have the car any more. I miss driving it, but I don't miss the problems it had.

So you're VIN is in the 601 range correct? I'm in the 602s and haven't had a problem yet.

It's odd how the VINs do not indicate who is prone to having problems. The problems pop up all over the place.

I'm in the 602s as well and I'm at ~2160 miles and so far, the car has been solid as far as I can tell.

I'm also leaving the ft-86 scene. After going threw this again for the second time and Toyota saying that have to look into to see how to fix it I believe they don't know the true fix and not gonna be a genie pig for them to determine the problem. I traded the frs for a Hyundai geniuses turbo r spec edition. More hp, heavier but hey no problems. Ill keep it until they figure there crap out. What's the fun when I'm driving a rental. Anyways the car had 5k miles on it.

I received my vehicle on Saturday. I've put another 400 miles on it and haven't had any further issues. You can classify it as repaired after 5 weeks.

Damn... It's actually getting to the point where people are disowning their FR-S/BRZ... Toyota/Subaru better step it up... Like double time...

I agree, as a potential FT86 buyer I've been swayed away until it's sorted out and I don't believe I'm the only one. Granted it may only be 5% affected, but that's a chance I'm not willing to take or hassles I want to deal with, especially when there's no solid fix, just a lot of trial and error type of troubeshooting and fixing.

It's also disheartening that the issue is not just here in the U.S., but worldwide.

My wife and I too.....we actually bought a BRZ on Sept. 19th....dealer sold it out from under us to someone willing to pay $7K over MSRP before they shipped it to our dealer in AZ. I feel like we got lucky.

We waited until last week for Subaru to figure out what's really wrong with these cars.....now we're buying a commuter car and something even more fun and neither car is from Toyota or Subaru.

The BRZ/FR-S has a lot of potential, but I don't want to be a crash test dummy for Sub/Toy to figure out what's wrong with their cars. With my horrible luck, I'd be in that 5%....but frankly, I'm beginning to wonder if that 5% is accurate.

I don't blame you...the last thing you want to do with a new car is to have it in the shop forever, and then not have the satisfaction that it is going to be okay after that ordeal...best of luck

You are not the only one. I have always had a rule never to buy a first year car, but I was this close to pulling the trigger on the FRS because I was so excited for the driving experience. After these CEL and other problems exploded, I rethought my situation and realized I don't have the time or patience to deal with Toyo and Subaru's runaround/guinea pig phase. So, 2014 it is...
