588 miles...I actually have no idea how much mpg I even get to calculate gas costs. I can estimate of course. I usually get lower than everyone else says they get in the exact same cars. It might be because I weigh 985 pounds, or just a really heavy right foot.

And I'd *love* to have someone in there the first few runs showing me how to run autox. If I do go, I'll make sure and read up on the main ideas, tips, tricks, etc. anyway, but nothing like an actual driver to tell me to quick texting while autocrossing.
Even at 22mpgs which is pretty spirited driving you can do it on 26 gals. 2 fillups.

Bring lots of frozen water and an umbrella, it really helped me keep cool and from fatigue from occurring. I was there when it was about 100 ambient so it was more ground temp.

If you do go, don't be shy. There will be other FRS/BRZ drivers and they would be happy to give you tips. Many dedicated novice instructors walk up and down grid asking if you want help. Trust me, I dunno how the Porsche club is ran but SCCA is so damn friendly to noobs.

Will it be worth the drive? That's all up to you to decide. But speaking from personal experience, if my first time doing auto-x was complete shit, I would have never returned.

True...I probably get 17mpg, lol, but I get your point.

Frozen water, that's a great idea. I would have just brought cold. An umbrella? Are there places to sit waiting (well, besides your car), or just standing around everyone's cars?

I've dabbled + a bit with bike racing, but autox is completely foreign to me. The idea even seems strange, but how will I know until I try? Will definitely do it, just trying to convince a friend to join me on the trip up and back so I don't get too bored.

How often do you autox?

It's usually monthly. Say least bring a hat. And sunscreen

Amateur.

I had my doors removed and just have a rope that clips behind me once I'm in.

I'm sure it's pretty funny watching someone my size get in such a small car though. Glad I can entertain people with my trauma!

A hat is a good idea. I'd actually thought of sunscreen, but not a hat.

This is all so last minute, if anyone knew me they'd be laughing hysterically at me trying to do something "spontaneous!"

This is the internet not the USA and freedom of speech does not apply. A fundamental rule of this forum is NO politics. You are expected to respect that rule or risk ban.

So stop the quasi scientific babbling already.
