This. If you cannot do the Vette thing then get a Mustang GT. You can usually find them brand new for about $27-28K with track pack.

It sounds like you care much more about straightline speed than cornering, etc. For straightline speed under $30K it is hard to beat a Mustang GT for a new car. Used car? I would be all over the Vette. The Vette and Stang GT will crush any other car you have mentioned.

Porsche Boxster. Can find them used for cheap, has boxer, handle great, and good power for size. Plus you can drop the top.

True, but then you would own a Boxster and cost to keep those babies running?

I like sliding around and general shenanigans but i would like it have track ability as well.
I looked at a 370, genesis coupe, even an sti... just not sure.
The 370 gets worse the harder you drive it.

The genesis isn't that much of a hooligan tool.

STI as said above, won't really slide much unless you wanna start to rally.

I'll just agree with everyone and go for the C5 Z06.

I really don't want a vette....
I was looking at terminators on the web. They seem like they could make me smile when I turn the key, I figure with appropriate suspension they might not suck on the track....

Well since you're not into the vette. I have a 350z and love it. I would recommend it to anyone looking for more power and from what I've read the 370z handles slightly better than the 350 and as long as the traction control is enabled you will never slide out (given the roads are dry etc.) Hell you can get a used 09-10 370z for the same price as a new FRS and put the extra cash saved into better suspension and sway bars. Thats my 2 cents Good luck in your search.

That's what kept me away from this car.. Not so much the money.. But for how complex the car itself is and the packaging.. 300$ for an oil change..
1600$ every 30k miles for their required maint.. They have to disassemble so many things to get to the serviceable parts.. Great to drive.. But so complex and difficult to maintain..

That is s terrible 1 word. My buddy had a 2010 exige and its a piece of crap. Yes it was an awesome track car but that's all it can be, is a track car. It literally sounds like its falling apart when we drove it on the street. He sold it back to the dealership and pickup up an eco powered Ariel
