I too am having this issue in my a/t 13 frs. I have to take off my header and e flash the ecu to take it to the dealer and hope they still cover my car under warranty. A shop I go to said it could be a faulty wheel sensor. Has anyone solved this issue and what did it take?

FYI my issue was a the brake switch fuse was blown. Now everything is back to normal all lights off. Check your fuses!

Probably due to a bad led on my BC tail lights. Covered by warranty and will be fixed next week

Hey guys,

im from Australia and having the same issue...

Toyota dealership blamed my power magic pro which is used for my Blackvue dash cam.

i replaced the Power Magic Pro twice and still having fault.
the ABS and swiggely light comes on and wont go off untill i turn the car off.. the cruise control doesnt work either when the lights come on.

Im going to take it to another dealership.

just to be on the safe side im going to walk in and advise them to check a few things...

- fuse box
- ABS sensors
- ECU

anything else guy that can help...

Was your issue resolved? I made an appointment for this for next Saturday. Too long of a wait.

My brakes lights do not seem to be working either now, I am going to check the fuses in a few.

My scenario:

If I drive easy, no abrupt maneuvers, the light does not come on.

Go over a bump or put those sway bars to use, and the light comes on.

I was able to get the light to turn off by turning the car on/off.

Now, today, with my brake lights going out on the way home, highway, heavy traffic, it is constantly on: I tried restarting my car twice to no avail.

I really hope this is not a big issue.

I have a little over a year with my frs (manual). I have had this problem too but not in abrupt maneuvers, only when i wash it. To clean the rims i usually get some degreaser in there then hose it down. When im done, i turn the engine over and no light but as soon as im on the road and shift to 3rd, BOOM, ABS and traction control lights come on. My only guess is that the sensors get wet when i hose it down. I was even thinking about jacking it up and putting some heat shrink on them to see if that solves the problem but im injured atm so i cant :/

Check your wheel alignment. Also check the steering sensor, make sure things are centered.

On my last car, I had rear suspension work done, which Wacked the alignment way out. The steering wheel was not straight, with the car kind of crabbing, and my car thew the same codes as you.

Once the alignment was done, the wheel was once again centered, and the codes/lights went away.

If your steering wheels are off, not centered, it may trigger the same lights on our cars as well.

I just installed springs, been meaning to get an alignment, now I will get it done today. Thank you very much.

---

As for my brake lights, fuses were good.

This morning, they magically came back on in the same spot on the highway they went out... 20 miles from my house

Heard a relay buzzing the whole time, then click, my brakes worked. Now ABS & Traction Control light are off and not coming back....

I'm still getting an alignment, and taking it from there.

UPDATE: Did Alignment, problem still present.

Did a little research & brought my car to a mechanic I trust next to our shop.

What I gave him:

--------

Rear Brake Lights DO NOT work, running lights work fine.

Traction Control disabled.

ABS Disabled.

--------

CODE: C1249 - Open Circuit In Stop Light Switch Circuit

--------

All Fuses are OK.

Here clicking/buzzing sound coming from center console area, under dash, driver knee area, while driving 20mph+.

Smell of “fried circuit board” the longer you drive vehicle.

--------

4/21/14 - Noticed light came on after installing lowering springs. Assumed steering angle sensor. Brake lights still worked at this point. Heard no buzzing in dash.

4/22/14 – Brake Lights stopped working while driving home on highway. Started hearing buzzing sound. ABS/T.C. Light constantly on.

4/23/14 – While driving to work in morning, brake lights were not working, ABS/Traction Control Light was on. There was buzzing/ clicking coming from center console area, under dash, driver knee area. Suddenly, hear loud pop, and brake lights start working. Arrive at work, get alignment, have no issues afterwards (20 mile drive home) with ABS/TC light coming on dash or brake lights not working.

Get home. Park car for 1 hour. Start car and problems start within 1 minute.

Cannot drive car, unsafe, will get pulled over.

--------

I think it is a bad relay or possibly a loose plug.

Also check SUBARU TSB: SB-06-44-12

UPDATE: FIXED PROBLEM.

The brake light switch, behind the brake pedal.... was stuck closed (internally).

Took it off, tapped it, heard a click, put it back in. Everything is A-OK.

I am going to call Toyota and tell them to get me a new switch.

Hopefully, if anyone else runs into this issue, take a look at the simplest things first :P

Just curious.. to the people that are having mil lights come on, what modifications have been done to your vehicles (power train related)? Also its best that when people do get mil on conditions that you try not to reset them. Nothing worse than an intermittent situation occuring that you just reset the codes for. Hard mil codes will normally have freeze frame data captured so dont disconnect the battery in an effort to make the light go away. Ive scanned ecus before with mil lights on but have no codes stored. These glitches happens rarely but nontheless they do occur.
