Rear Deck "popping/clicking/tapping/ticking" noise.
Yep no more noise after a year... Is that clear?

Rear Deck "popping/clicking/tapping/ticking" noise.
Ok then try tape or 3M. I have already saw a guy who had the sound coming from an airbag near to the rear side windows...also....

Mine stared doing this when i bought it over a year and a half ago but it went away on its own. I did spray some lithium grease in the trunk joints as shown in some pictures here on the forum. It helped but now its completely gone on its own. I suspect the parts that were clicking perhaps wore down and no longer rubbing on each other. 2 Dealerships would do nothing about it which frustrated me at the time but just my 2 cents. That clicking sound is gone.

Thanks to your post and from other forum I managed to reduce my rattle.
At first I did the usual rear deck adjustments: spraying grease, cracking/opening space between panels, wrapping the rear seat latches but the metal tapping noise still there. After asking my wife to sit at the back for few hours she said the noise is not coming from rear deck but instead coming from the roofline area. So I finally open the side airbag panel, seatbelt panel, door weatherstrip and I pull the headline a bit to expose the metal bracket. But instead of cracking the panels, I opened the bolt and slip some thick tape between the panels. Finally the metal tapping sound is gone!! Quote:

Thought I'd chime in and let you guys know how my situation is. I've pretty much gotten use to the rear deck rattle now. I have noticed that it tends to happen more in the winter then the summer, but now my driver's side has a similar sound to it. Whenever I get time I'm going to pop off the rear airbag covers and see if it is coming from that area.
Also doesn't help that I have a subtle one coming from behind my HVAC controls, but that's for a different day.

If so, I think I have the same issue. Was it easy to put the roof panels back together? |

several or 3-4 popping sounds are gone. but im skeptical. im gonna wait a day before i put things back. I cracked every shitty spot weld around the deck frame possible. then i drove to isolate one from the above pics. now i dont hear anything. we will wait and see what happens after a drive. I am determined to own a crack pop rachet free ft86. __________________________________________________ ____________ found more buggers. i will re do all the 50+ shit weld cracks if i hear anything more. my evo was the only rattle free evo that i know of. my BRZ will also be rattle/crackling free. this is bullshit. all that work for no money. those spots in red had significant popping noises cause they also connect to the side/upper frame and sit right on top of the struts where the first impact of absorption happens. BRZ, I own you. you dont own shit. Last edited by johnnyfast11; 05-13-2014 at 05:33 PM. |

Are you still having success with these fixes? My noise re-appeared about 6-months later, this time on the opposite (driver's) side. I have still been unable to find the source. I have my interior stripped again and am trying your ideas, but no luck yet. It seems to be coming from above the wheel well area for sure, but I just can't pin-point it.

key is to use small skinny flat heads to open the small unseen cracks. When you hear them crack? You got them. |

I did not remove the whole headliner, only pull the rear area and some side/front area. |
