Maybe it's because he has plates with tags on them. Do some states provide these at purchase
I've always transferred old plates to the new car and then updated the registration. Not sure if that's what you meant?

Although I agree; it looks like just a stunt. Fun though!

Not sure how good it is for the engine in the long run, but it does produce results.
butt dyno? I'm not an "break-in" expert but trashing a car during breakup could possibly cause blow-by as the rings are still seating in the cylinder bore and you are putting them under maximum pressure - thus maybe contaminating your oil..and that isn't good. But I guess the thinking behind it is that the rings still seal better, a compression test could show the difference better than a dyno.

Also your brand new gears in the tranny and diff are also breaking it. But hey, it's your car and only my opinion.

Ah never thought of that!
No I meant in some states do they issue plates for you as soon as you buy the car but what you're saying makes much more sense.

Like I said no guarantee it's good for the engine, but there are about 4 or 5 86's here in NZ (that I know of) that were thrashed from day 1.

Anyone (who followed the normal break in) that jumps into one of these for a drive is instantly amazed how much more responsive and gruntier they are.

Even way down the line (10,000km+).

Just my opinion at the end of the day. :P

In many states (MD being one of them), the dealership provides you your license plates at time of purchase. I never had to step foot in a DMV to get my license plates (thank god).
