I'll probably be switching to Hankook Ventus R-S3's with my next tire change though.

Those 57extremes look great! What mods were on the car when you were at Streets last November for the first 86 challenge event? I was the other guy in stock class. Stock FR-S with the exception of Carbotech XP10/XP8 pads.

Nice car, looks just like mine.
You should add an oil cooler as your next mod.

Thanks! And for that event, the only mod I had was switching out the stock Michelins for the Z1 Star Spec tires. Everything else was bone stock. You were certainly giving me a run for my money though! Everytime I was almost happy with my laptimes, I kept seeing you creeping up the laptime list and it kept pushing me in my following sessions Hope you can make it to one of the next few 86 Challenge events!

Thanks for the suggestion! I've actually been looking into them and I'm leaning towards the Greddy oil cooler (as I'm kind of a brand loyalist :P) but at the moment I'm not really experiencing problems with oil temps even at the track. However, my car is about to get an EcuTek tune from Evasive at the end of this week and if the car shows any signs of overheating at the track with the tune, this will definitely be the next mod on my list. Appreciate the tip though! ^_^

So my JRZ RS coilovers have finally arrived! While I was waiting for them, I also ordered the Perrin Crank Pulley, EVS 70mm front pipe, and Cusco sway bars (20mm Hard Front / 16mm Hard Rear) so there was quite the stockpile of stuff waiting for me at Evasive today...

I was originally only going to get the front pipe and pulley installed then get the car tuned with an EcuTek setup today but Evasive had found some issues with the fuel timing when using 91 octane with their BRZ. So we decided to postpone the tune while they hear back on their issues and just install all the parts they had in hand for me and deal with all the fine tuning at a later date.

Anyways - lets move onto pictures!

JRZ RS Coilovers:
After paying up front and waiting for weeks with patience, I finally got to see my most eagerly awaited upgrade. I had been debating between the JRZ RS and the KW Variant 3 coilovers for many reasons but at the end of the day, I decided to go with the JRZ setup hoping that the performance, high praise for the brand and built-in camber plates would outweigh the price differential.

The springs that came with are 550 lbs/inch in the front and 600-610 lbs/inch in the rear. I had my stock wheels on from my last track event and I wanted to get the alignment/corner balancing done with my 19" 57Extremes so we only did a general installation today with -3.5 degrees of camber in the front and -3.0 in the rear (similar to what Evasive is running on their BRZ). The drop looks to be about 1 inch lower than the stock suspension but with these settings, the stock wheels now look sunken in the fenders >.< I'm actually glad I have my 8.5 and 9.5 width wheels to fill out that space.

I've only driven on them for an afternoon so far but I've already experienced a noticeable difference in the car's stability in corners and under braking so I have high hopes for their performance at the track. There was a slight floaty feeling at the beginning but it seems to be slowly going away so hopefully it's just the coilovers settling in after installation. Overall the car feels much more firm and I'm getting more road feedback (i.e. road imperfections are definitely more noticeable). It still feels nice enough for daily driving though and I'm really only noticing the stiffness of the springs going over speed bumps where I quickly discovered I can't take them at the speeds that I did with the stock suspension lol.

I'll try to get a more thorough review up after my next track event.

Cusco Front and Rear Swaybars:
Pretty straight forward upgrade. I did debate a little between the soft (16mm F/14mm R) and hard (20mm F/16mm R) sets but after doing some research, it looked like the hard set wasn't as thick as other swaybar brands/options so I'm hoping they make the car feel better on track but not so stiff where I lose sense of the limits of the tires.

====================

I'll update with more pictures in a couple weeks when I get my alignment and corner balancing done and hopefully I'll also remember to get pictures of the new front pipe and swaybars while the car is on the lift next time >.<

And last but not least - thanks a ton to Dennis, Randy and the awesome mechanics at Evasive Motorsports for taking the time to answer all my questions and deal with all my last minute requests. I can't recommend these guys highly enough!

Finally got my alignment, corner balance and ride height adjustment done yesterday. Also purchased and installed a set of Cusco Rear Pillowball Lateral Links for some additional camber in the rear.

Ran at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway a couple weeks ago on the JRZ's. Was completely impressed with how much of a difference 1 click makes on the dampers. After some trial and error, ended up with 6/22 clicks from full stiff on the fronts and 8/22 clicks from full stiff on the rears. Rebound settings were left where Evasive started me off at 7/14 clicks from full stiff. Will probably make further adjustments now that my alignment/corner balance are dialed in.

Next change will probably be committing to a more track friendly set of wheels/tire. Debating between lightweight 17x8 or 17x9 (possibly RPF1's or TE37's) OR selling my 19's and just switching to a 18x9.5 57Extreme set similar to Evasive's BRZ set up for all around duty. Any feedback would be appreciated

And lastly had a friendly discussion with Evasive regarding the HKS supercharger kit and oil cooler kit. Found out they may be installing the upcoming Greddy turbo kit on their BRZ so I'm extremely interested to see how it all pans out as both kits are very high on my list for my stage 2 upgrades.

Settled on a new set of wheels/tires for track purposes: Enkei RPF1 17x9's wrapped in Hankook Ventus R-S3's at 225/45/17. So far they feel amazing both on the street and at the track! As heavy as my 19" 57Extreme's made my car feel from stock - these are on the opposite side of the spectrum. The car feels more responsive and nimble and I can't recommend them enough.

I'll probably be selling my 19" 57 Extreme's very soon and getting a set of 18x9.5's as my street set. If you have any interest, let me know or just keep an eye out for the classified post in the next week or two.

Cool ride. With your current street tire setup. Do you have any rubbing issues? Whats your current camber settings?

With my current alignment I only get slight rubbing at max compression in a corner with the street wheel/tires (0 rubbing with my track wheels/tires).

I'm running -3.6 in the front and -2.5 in the rear.

Ted next time we meet I want a ride! I want to feel how legit coilovers are! For now I'm changing springrates and re-testing at M-Fest the end of this month.
