Next Mustang gets the EVOS concept design
Update with Press Release
https://media.ford.com/content/fordm...-new-desi.html Quote:
All I can say is "ugh". Autoweek "insider" info on the next Mustang. If I wanted a DB9 I'd buy a DB9. This is NOT a Mustang. I guess I know what my wife's replacement for her '05 will not be. Update 12/5/2014: (Actual Car from Further down the thread, much better)

I highly doubt the final production vehicle will look like that. The article just says it'll take "styling cues" from the Evos concept, which might just mean something minor. Or so I hope. That is just NOT a Mustang, period. Ford would lose a ton of fans if they ditch the retro pony car styling, IMO.

If I wanted a DB9, but could only afford a Mustang, I'd be all over this.
Is it finally getting IRS?

i think the evos looks good...but if the mustang looked like that I would vomit. One of my favorite things about the stangs is the way they have evolved the design. That said if they took ques from the evos and keep the weight low I think there might be a stang in my future.

This one from MotorAuthority.com goes into a little detail saying: That means one thing: the 2015 Mustang, which represents the 50th anniversary of the car, won’t be retro in styling. In fact, The Wall Street Journal (subscription required) quotes sources close to the 2015 Mustang project as saying it will look a lot like the Evos show car that Ford debuted last summer. Some styling elements, such as the round headlights and protruding hood, will carry over into the new model, which is a design we’re having a hard time wrapping our heads around. The Evos was a stunning concept car, but Ford’s already copied many of its elements for the 2013 Ford Fusion. Got my fingers crossed they are a bit misguided. The retro style was the first one in a long time I thought really looked like "Mustang". With any luck, if they retain those key features mentioned above, it will look more like how the new Camaro "represents" its heritage while still looking more modern.

Exactly. I have no issue with the evos look, its a sexy car, its just not a Mustang.

Not gonna happen. Not even close. Looks like a DB9 crossed with a Prius.

The side profile looks kinda like a Honda Accord coupe, in hatchback form. Not sure if I like it, regardless of whether it'll be called a Mustang.
I think the current Mustang and Camaro look great. They should have just improved a bit on the current design, IMO. |

I would be glad to see them get away from the retro thing. I love 69 Camaros and 67 Mustangs as much as anyone, but let's push ahead, shall we?

I can only see Mustang sales tanking with a design like this...
Everybody loves the retro look! It's what defines the Mustang!

I'm useless at photoshop but I could see if you take the front end, add round headlights and the traditional Mustang grill across the front, it might actually look like a Mustang.

Anyone else old enough to remember when Ford was seriously going to make the Mustang FWD? With pop-up lights? That ended up becoming the Probe after huge up-roar, which has something to do with why the Fox chassis kept going and going...

I guess I would not care what they called the car if they made it weight under 2700Lbs, with RWD and say a 200 or so HP 4 cylinder that got 35+ MPG and had great handling. I could be enticed to buy an American made FR-S/BRZ rival. Sorry, Chevy but the 130R just does not do it for me.
