I wouldn’t say it’s less effective than the manual flip down kind. And you don’t get the weird distortion effect with an auto dimming mirror. It’s a perk of the BRZ to get more features. Just enjoy your car, it’s one of the best out there.

i like the compass. because when i get lost on backroads, i head south for north. and there's nothing better than getting lost on backroads.

I don't think my mirror actually works. When I drive in the dark, I'm going to toggle the power. Your saying I should see a difference..

It might be more obvious during the day to cover the front facing (toward the windshield) photosensor with your finger or a piece of black tape. The mirror should gradually darken during the next minute or so if it's working.
