I cannot argue with what is fun for you. But, i have to say that sports driving is much more than the ability of manual shifting. Entering and exiting a curve at the right speed, rpm, angle, and gear are also very important for being a good driver. Where to apply the brakes, ability to control and take advantage of under/oversteer has nothing to do with MT or AT. Again, by all means, you are free to own the car you want. I can't wait to test the new Supra with its ZF transmission. I will seriously consider it. That car can probably be modified to 500HP easily.

I've been tracking for years, so well aware.

But I guess total control (with no possible override by a computer) of the engine and gear choice isn't for everyone.

By giving up that heel-and-toe, you can still have fun while sharpening the other aspects of your driving skills at a higher level. It is a give and take and especially true for latest sports cars.

Not trying to sway you ... enjoy your cars!

In manual mode the AT will not change your gear choice. Just sayn'

That heel and toe is an acquired skill. I think some of us prefer a manual because we are just very good at operating it. No other logical explanation.

Me I'm very picky, if the manual setup isn't all that great I rather not have it cuz I wouldn't enjoy using it. Enjoyment to me has nothing to do with it being fun or not.

I've also come across a lot of automatic sports car defenders imo they just suck at driving stick in real life period.

But I don't defend either transmission. I just look for quality in feel.

what about clutch kicks & launching the car at whatever revs you want? inb4 someone says extra wear on the drivetrain...who cares, go drive an Aztek..

so you're saying since there is a lot of stuff going on while you're driving, it means you're too distracted to enjoy rowing your own gears? And please, most normal drivers are not driving that seriously on the street, there is plenty of brain capacity left to operate a clutch and stick correctly... If you feel like you need that much focus and concentration, you probably need to stay off the streets.. So of course it isn't a MT vs AT debate hence why it is even more dumb for Toyota not to include the choice between the 2.

Oh look! It's another manual verses auto discussion! That's great because I haven't seen one since last time.

Ordered mine today through Toyota New Zealand and paid my deposit.

Premium in White with the red/black interior. Colour was the hardest decision.

Toyota here has their Drive Happy no buyers remorse system so if I don’t like it or the colour I can return it within 7 days and 500km for a full refund.

Delivery in June or July they think.

Fantastic policy... potentially, NZ may end up with lots and lots of low mileage unloved cars wearing funny shades!!! Poor Toyota!! Whoever came up that policy in the organisation should be promoted to head up the Japanese economy..

It has been in place for all Toyota new cars here for some time and hardly any cars returned from what I hear.

Most aren’t purchased sight unseen like the first shipment of GR Supras.
