Looks like a Mitsubishi Eclipse. That is NOT a compliment.

The top is going to have to be electric. That involves complexity and weight. It needs to go somewhere when stowed. That means a tiny trunk. Convertible tops have a lifespan of about 7 years. What do you think it it will cost to replace? Dealer installed Miata tops in my neck of the woods run over $2000. DIY $5-800.

I have been a convertible fan all my life, however, I noted with the Mustang I drove that you pretty much have to sign a waiver before you put the top down. Not a spontaneous action like with the Miata or the MGBs. You need to know ahead of time that you will be putting the top down, that the drive will be long enough to justify the effort of reversing it on the other end and then you do the ritual. If they do a convertible, it will be just another feature in the long list of "almost got it right" features that plague the car.

So now we have an S2000 and Miata competition. The wheels are big and ugly though, but thats to be expected at an autoshow.....

Agreed, but lets hope we're wrong, that size looks great.

Yeah the only hope of this having been cool was if they made a 2 seat roadster, now that it is clearly a cabriolet I've lost all interest.

Roll bars

I would want roll bars. If you roll it you're dead.

By the last year of production I saw S2000's going for $28k. Kicked myself for not getting one.

Doubt it, why would a private party spend the money to do this when they know a production convertible is around the corner?

Anyone notice that the trunk looks like its past vertical when open?

I wish they would make it like the Elise. Removable hardtop center roof, ala targa. Don't have to worry about any evil people randomly stabbing the top or a need for a roll bar.

I don't hate it, it's better than I thought it would be, but definitely not something I would buy. MomHawk would love it though. Maybe I can get her to trade in her '05 Mustang Convert. on one.

I would be all over a Targa top version! With louvers. Still want the louvers.

Nice. I'd buy it if there was a hardtop version.
