BTW.
RE003 is known as Firehawk Indy 500 in the US.

I'm not sure if the compounds are exactly the same.

Hey guys,

Handed in the paperwork for (hopefully) my new 86 today. I see they run 215/45 which is the same as my old Kia Koup.

Has anyone tried Toyo tyres on their 86 ?

Which Toyo tyres?

RE003 is pretty much the benchmark I reckon.

Another effective and affordable tyre option is Michelin PS4's.
I use them for road tyres on both my cars, and they're great.

Why do you need to replace tyres on a new car?
The stock tyres offer a safe way to learn the dynamics of this car.

@sav

The Toyo Proxes T1 Sport

@tm86

I am not looking for new tyres, just looking at options for the future. I will be taking the car on a skid pad so I can get some experience with a RWD and I am not sure how long the tyres will last.

The Toyos I can get for R1250 a tyre which is really well priced and they are rated 91W which is really close to the RE003, softish compound, great grip and excellent performance in the wet.

Cool, yeah I've never been a fan of Toyo's "passenger" tyres. 91W is just the load rating, it doesn't mean they will perform the same.

I was looking at Toyo Proxes R888R which seems nice.

Stock sizes or will a 225 fit on the stock 17” rims?

Dunno. I've never had stock 17" rims.
My car came with 16", and my aftermarket 17" rims are wider than stock.
