Making Your FR-S Perfect...
The FR-S out of the box appears to be pretty decent. Below are the modifications that it will take to make the car perfect for me (well, at least within a reasonable budget). How will you make your FR-S perfect?
EXTERIOR: 1) Chrome tails must go (I'm not 17, and this isn't 1999). Hopefully DEPO will make some decent tails with black bezels or plain red tails with led's. 2) The front end looks naked without fog lights. I'm sure Scion will make this an option. 3) Wheels/Tires: Will probably make the biggest impact. I don't like the Scion wheels shown so far, so some dark or gunmetal 17's will be on the list for me. The wheels must also be lightweight. As for tires, 225 series tires with some better grip will also be going on. I have driven many cars with 215 series tires, and the tires don't offer quite the contact patch and stability I want to have. 4) I am getting a white car, so tint will look great on it. Not too mention it's really hot out here (The first mod). 5) Debadge the "FR-S" on the back of the car. The badge is not symmetrical with the other side, and it will just trap wax and other debris. INTERIOR: 1) The base FR-S head unit has been established as the biggest eyesore since any 1980's GM interior. I will be looking to upgrade with a nicer headunit from Scion. PERFORMANCE: 1) I haven't driven the car, but slightly more power never hurt anyone. A tune and high-quality exhaust will go on last after as I wait for any major glitches or first-year issues to surface. By high-quality exhaust I mean no fart cannons, 100 plus db earaches, or drone machines. 2) Lightweight wheels, grippy 225 series tires (see above). 3) Even though I hate the wheel gap, I will not be lowering this car as it already sits pretty low, and I don't want to go 2 mph over every dip and bump. |

Hm... Feels like a this goes to mods thread, but I'll buy
Exterior: 1. Tail lights - will be putting red films to take off the Altezza look (STI hatch tail lights concept). 2. TRD duckbill spoiler - I do like the big spoiler... But gonna keep it simple. 3. Head lights - in debating stage to swap em w JDM LED head lights... Or swap em w Subie ver. 4. No emblems - make it clean w no emblems & no logos (that include 86 pistons emblems) 5. Fog lights space - do love fog lights... But this car will be summer car, so I don't really need fog lights so I'll make that as a vent to brake cooler. 6. Aero kits - this is I gonna wait to see what other after market gonna offer, so wait & see. 7. Under panel - there gonna be front under panel defusser kit for better air flow... But haven't heard anything bout the rear under panel defusser kit & I might get an connect to get some custom made rear under pandel defusser kit. 8. Side mirrors - FRS has 2 ton color side mirrors... Which I'm not really fan of, so I'll be swapping w Subie's 1 ton color mirrors or just color em to same color w rest of the car 9. JDM corner lights - instead of amber, I'll go w chrome like JDM ver. Interior: Won't be doing much. Keeping it simple stock. Suspension: 1. Wheels - not a fan of stock wheels, so will be changing to different wheels. Will be keeping it same wheel size (17's) & lighter wheels than stock. 2. Drop - not gonna drop crazy. Prob 1" (1.5" max). Don't mind the stock height, but seeing Greddy FRS, I gonna drop lil bit. 3. Spring & Strut or coilover - this one, it's all up in the air. Just like aero kit, I gonna wait & see what after market company can offer. 4. Brembo brakes - do like the TRD 6/4 big brakes... But not really needed in mine. From the looks of it, STI's 4/2 brakes will be able to fit in there, so I'll be swapping em w that. 5. SS Brake lines - gonna go lil bit bigger brakes mind as well take care that part too 6. F/R strut tower bar - hope to see FHI or TRD will make CF tower bars Engine & Other: 1. Exhaust system - do like 2 exhaust end... But for 2L NA engine single makes sweeter sound (most of the time), so will be searching around & YouTube'ing around to my fab note. 2. Lighter flywheel - im not making this car all powerful car, but good responsive car, so of course lighter flywheel gonna go in. 3. Bolts-on - still debating on this part... That's it for now... But of course those mods gonna be done after the warranty |

I am a realist that is all ...bitter at life? Hardly but I am not going to over speculate on a car that hasn't hit a production capacity yet.

Yes. If possible, I will swap 86 badge, which I like better than plastic inserted in BRZ.
