Good choice for you.. Sube makes one of the best AWD systems out there.
Great car.. always in demand up north..

That was one issue I didn't have.. The center diff kept breaking on stock power.
I had a 2nd gear syncro crunch after the car warmed up ! Turbo was blowing oil from bearing seals.. The car had a cool feel to it and it could move pretty descent for its time.. But the parts couldn't handle stock power.
Mitsubishi rebuilt my transmission twice trying to fix the gear crunch.
Both attempts made the transmission worse. They gave up and said that's all they could do, backed by corporate. Traded the POS for a 94 LT1 Camaro..
Fun car.. Abused it at the strip, on the street.. Etc.. Never broke a thing..

The old turbo Eclipses were fun, but man were they heaps!

It's still a shame to see any fun, sporty, or performance car go away...first the Eclipse, and it looks like now the Evo...

Only Mitsubishi motor in a half decent looking car back in the day was the Eagle Talon. They looked far better then eclipse. Even latest eclipse IMO is fugly as fak.

I owned a couple of Talons. Only thing is the non-turbo model is the DSM engine. Collabo between Mitsu and Chrysler. Dodge Neon disguised as a race car.

I think the turbo model 4G63 engine was still a bit of an issue. But that's probably because everyone wanted to run over 500 horses.

Sometimes I wonder if Toyota/Subaru studied the Eclipse/Talon story. When you really look at it... All they did with the DSMs is swap the front bumpers, rear lights and rear bumper. The Talon got that Star Trek wing. Not that different from the twin collabo.

The pictures I have been seeing of the 2015 Eclipse are very promising. It really looks like they are doing a reboot of the 2nd gen Eclipse which was by far the best looking in my opinion. Now if they make an AWD model and drop the 4b11 in them, then they might become relevant again.

I know when I was growing up, we all wanted a GSX. By the time we all got jobs, we ended up with WRX's instead since the Eclipse just went downhill fast. It would be awesome to see them make a comeback.

Ya I agree, I owned one as well. I didn't have much for issue but then only had it for 60k of mileage. Looks wise was a decent looker for its time.

Or to put it another way: You know what the quicker track-day car will be?

The one that starts!
My 4G63 turbo AWD Eclipse GSX has 150k hard miles on it and I've had virtually no problems with the engine itself. But of course, I've kept it stock and didn't put a massive aftermarket turbo on it. But I have had to replace the turbo and transmission in the past couple of years. Overall though, considering the overall performance, practicality, and styling for the price, I have yet to find a better car. Even the FR-S isn't quite as fun as my GSX in many ways.

But this concept is apparently not official at all. I doubt Mitsubishi will bring back the Eclipse line. As much as I loved Mitsubishi, it does seem like they're dying off and will soon be irrelevant to performance/sports cars.

Mitsubishi Motor.... Yes they may be dying out. MHI (Mitsubishi Heavy Industries) no way in hell are they going anyway. Mitsubishi Motors is basically the red headed step child of MHI now. Especially since the Prez of Mitsubishi Motors is a Fuck tard. We need a prez like Toyoda-San (Mitsu Fan boy here). I for one am a proud owner of a
88 Starion (technically its a Conquest TSi)
91 3000GT VR4
95 Eclipse GSX
None of which are running right now LOL but still, these cars have insane power potential and LOVE torque. I never cared for the EVO's honestly. And even used to call the Eclipse the little sister to the 3000GT, till I researched and bought one. The Aftermarket for these things is what the aftermarket for the twins DREAMS of becoming. Price/Power for the DSM's can't really be beat by damn near any other sports car out there, DSMs are currently sitting comfortably in the 8 second range (possibly 7's, can't remember), AND, on top of that, crank walk isn't only in DSMs...
http://www.supraforums.com/forum/sho...hose-following
http://www.supraforums.com/forum/sho...-crankwalk-wtf!
http://www.supraforums.com/forum/sho...Crankwalk-help
for example. Other cars get them too but I guess their just better at keeping secrets then DSMers who like to whine and complain online alot.

Mitsubishis going to have a FT-1 killer... Joking.

As far as this concept goes, never gonna happen. Even if it did, it'd be a FWD piece of crap. Unless they get balls and offer it in AWD as well as FWD turboed/NA like the original DSMs (or better yet RWD) they would have something. To be honest though, if mitsubishi came out with an updated Starion, The FR-S will be GONE. A modern day 2.6 Liter Turbo charged 2+2 light weight coupe.... Ya, I'll miss the FR-S. But since this nor the above will never happen, I'm not really worried. I'd honestly even get a MKIV supra over a FT-1 too.
