Which helmets are still made in the USA?
So, I'm needing to get a helmet for Autocross. The loaners are starting to get pretty gross with the temps going up recently. I've been looking around at different brands of SA2010 helmets. I've seen a lot that I like, but it seems like most of them are made in China. Are there any out there that are still made in the USA? I prefer to buy American whenever I can, so any recommendations would be appreciated.

Black Armor Helmets makes some great carbon fiber helmets. The owner, James Wilson, is very nice and also races in Pirelli World Challenge too. |

Many of the Simpson helmets are no longer made in the USA.

If you want a great helmet for an even better deal, and want to support a fellow racer, it's the way to go. Side note: Black Armor Helmets appear to not be made in the US. It seems they are sourced from a Chinese manufacturer, BSR Helmets, and distributed under the Black Armor brand name in the U.S. through a partnership with Texas Rallysport, LLC. I think you're going to be very hard pressed to find any U.S. based helmet manufacturers. Perhaps there are some custom/small production guys out there, but they're likely very expensive. As long as you've got a Snell SA and/or FIA rating you're gonna be fine. And really, good luck finding many products that are solely sourced and manufactured in the U.S. We live in a globalized economy, it's just he way things work.

Best Helmet on the market is Arai.
That said Bell are now made in Bahrain, the rest are mostly made in China. (I work Pegasus Auto Racing Supplies and sell Helmets every day.) |

Surprised to see this post come back from the dead. I ended up getting a Bell Sport Mag helmet last year. It's been great for Autocross.
