My experience with Cobb is limited to their open house events. That said, I was attending their open house events until I was told that they would not be developing for our platform as it does not come with boost from factory. That may have changed but I have not been back to find out.

All I've had done at cobb was an alignment only because they were the closest alignment place to Jack Junkies (where I did my suspension). ..

I called Dynotronics is New Braunfels on Tuesday. ATS is a distributor of theirs. After speaking with them, they seem very knowledgeable with the platform. So far, the difficult part about ATS is getting them to answer he phone. My brother has dealt with them a few times in person and has always had good dealings with them, and Dynotronics says they always communicate by email with them and they respond that way. Take all of that with a grain of salt mind you, as I have had no dealings with them and last time this discussion came up I said AWD tuning without having any experience with them and apparently there have been bad dealings with them. After speaking with @cf6mech I won't be taking my car to AWDTuning.

I have met the owner of ATS Racing a couple of times. I go to school with one of the guys that works in the shop. He currently owns an AE86. I have heard that the owner Turbo charged his FRS and has been tuning that. Last I heard he was at about the 300whp range. I have been to the shop and its a small shop that deals mostly with turbo MR2's. Once I have the chance to ride in the owners FRS and ask him about a few things this may be the place that ill be getting my car tuned or maybe even get a turbo from them.

I feel as though I have said all this information before.

Stopped by the shop this morning after class. Do not try to call them they don't answer....mostly. They said that email is the best way to get a hold of them if you want questions answered.

Ill be seeing the FRS next friday as the owner was not going to be in today.

The FRS that Aaron has is running E85 and at ~360HP with a conservative tune for DD.

Known Aaron for a long time. Definitely knows his stuff.

I have to get over there sometime to see his FRS and show him my new BRZ.

That's a rather blanket statement. Why? They have done all my work on my firestorm and I have had zero issues this includes adding force induction. I'm just kinda curious as to what you found via your research. Feel free to pm me if you want.

Not a blanket statement if you are lead in the right direction and talk to the right people,...wish I had. I'm just one of many,...and I find more as I dig deeper.

Nevermind.. I'm not going to beat my head into a wall.

I'm sorry for what ever happened to you and what ever you found on the internet that must be true.

I have had no issues and AWD stand by their work. I've been working with them for about a year now on my FRS.

I hope you find a shop that you are pleased with CF6.

Well you don't have to beat your head into a wall! We're just trying to get the best information we can, and you can contribute to that.
  • What work have you had done at AWDTuning?
  • Did you set up an appointment to drop off your car or just walk in?
  • Did they give you a written estimate up front?
  • Did you pay more or less than the estimate? Did they call you to go over any price increases before incurring the expense?
  • Did they give you an estimate of when the work would be completed?
  • Was the work completed by the estimation date?
  • Did they convince you to purchase anything that you had not originally intended to purchase? What was the reasoning and are you glad you did it?
  • Did they give you a cost estimate on tuning?
  • Did they charge more or less than the estimate?
  • Have you been able to do any datalogging, and if so have you seen any knocking?
  • Did any hiccups come up during the wrenching work or the tuning? How did they handle it? How well-informed were you during hiccups?

If you guys want a good account of the type of people at AWD then go talk to Kevin Dubois at Evolution Dynamics in Lewisville.

Oh yah.. no I wrote that because every response I had came across as sarcastic and combative. There's always 2 sides to every story and rarely do you hear both is all. I do like your questions tho so I will answer them because they are awesome!

What work have you had done at AWDTuning? FRS - 2 Tunes, Innovate Supercharger, Perrin 3 Inch Cat back, Body kit refit, Intercooler install, Fuel pump install, E85 Conversion

Did you set up an appointment to drop off your car or just walk in? I've done both

Did they give you a written estimate up front? Yes

Did you pay more or less than the estimate? Did they call you to go over any price increases before incurring the expense? No

Did they give you an estimate of when the work would be completed? Yes
Was the work completed by the estimation date? Yes

Did they convince you to purchase anything that you had not originally intended to purchase? What was the reasoning and are you glad you did it? Yes: They suggested changing fuel pump and injectors when adding the Supercharger kit. Yes I'm glad I did it, it would be fuel starved on stock injectors at higher end.

Did they give you a cost estimate on tuning? Yes: Their tuning rate is a flat rate for most tunes.

Did they charge more or less than the estimate? Neither.. It was the same as the estimate.

Have you been able to do any datalogging, and if so have you seen any knocking? No knocking to date.

Did any hiccups come up during the wrenching work or the tuning? How did they handle it? How well-informed were you during hiccups? My car ate a license (known issues) so Keith kept me informed as he worked with ECUtek to get a license back and get the issue taken care of.

You can also speak with:

Nameless
Perrin
Grimspeed
Accelerated Performance

These guys all work closely with AWDtuning and can let you know about them as well. They also just sleeved a block for JMS racing.
