Open Flash Header Discussion

Since the original openflash header thread got pushed to the market place area there's been a lack of openflash header love in the exhaust section. The original open flash header thread has turned into more at a order status thread than anything else.

I was hoping to let this be the place to continue the discussion and share impression and media! I hope everyone likes the sound of that!

Yea I'm with you on making this thread. I'd love to consolidate info and the latest available maps here, instead of spending a ridiculous amount of time clicking through that threads pages, searching for the answer to a simple question.

Has anyone gotten these ceramic coated?

I have seen one of the Vishnu tuning guys recommend against getting it coated, possibly because of the stainless construction. But I prefer to lower underhood temps if possible. The increased longevity is nice too.

Recommend against coating???? That's a first I have seen from anyone. Maybe they meant wrapping? JDL will void warranties if you wrap your header, but not coat it.

Yeap, double coated with the +2200 stuff on the outside and 1 coat of the fire retardant type on the inside. I can touch the header when I get home so I know the heat is mostly from the engine.

IIRC they said it wasn't necessary while NA, unsurety must have been mistaken about Shiv saying we shouldn't.

I probably got mixed up. I would never wrap a header anyway.

I didn't know if it had anything to do with maybe the coating not adhering to the stainless.
