Taken in Atlanta yesterday: Sorry for your loss OP. Hope your insurance process is painless. Meanwhile I thank the flying spaghetti monster in the sky who shits such large ice balls that I've been blessed with garages at home and work. |

After Hurricane Sandy I had about 7 dents requiring a hood replacement and paint.
Total covered was about $4,500 in damage for just that... they may very well total yours if the damage is as bad as it sounds. |

Shit, that sucks. With that much damage I'd probably hope for a total as well.
In 2009 my 2005 RSX-S was hail damaged. Virtually every body panel except for the bumpers needed replacement, though none of my glass cracked and I didn't have any interior damage. The insurance estimated $9200, so you figure the actual body shop cost would only increase from there. Ended up cashing the $9200 check and selling the car as-is for about $3k off the non-hail-damaged going rate and made money on the deal, so never got it repaired. |

it should be covered under "natural disasters"... like floodings or a tree limb falling on your call.
that is if you opted in for the coverage.

My Civic got stolen 10 years ago and on the 30th day of a 30 day car rental a large tree fell lengthwise, front to back, onto the roof and trunk of the rental in my driveway. It surely was totaled, but I never followed up. I did my best to recreate the scene from the first Jackass movie where they did destruction derby with the rental to see the expression on the rental agency guys face. It was great! Anyway, using my insurance(not the rental agencies), I filed under "act of God". No deductible needed. Of course they dropped us, but we were going to leave them anyway(61 days to get paid). |

It hailed a bit where I'm from the other day on my way home from work. I was PRAYING that it wouldn't damage my car. Spring can't come fast enough and neither can my savings for a winter only car...

That awkward moment when you're outside a mile from shelter and it's hailing tennis balls and hail the size of tennis balls.
First and foremost, glad you're okay. It would SUCK to be caught outside in that. Second, it doesn't surprise me they had to total it but it sucks that you'll be out of an FRS for a while =/. Good luck with the insurance and stuff bro

From FOX News Mississippi..... Mississippi's insurance commissioner says the wind and hail storm that hit the state could result in 35,000 to 50,000 insurance claims. Insurance Commissioner Mike Chaney said Tuesday those numbers are based on information provided by insurers and include automotive and property damage claims. A lot of damage is in the Jackson area, where hail as big as baseballs pounded some spots Monday night.
