Regarding the recharge rate, it's always 8:1. However, with well conditioned batteries you have a certain amount of reserve with the first few engagements of the day, so the recharge rate is somewhat better then 8:1. After that reserve is depleted , you're back to 8:1. If there is considerable delay between engagements, you once again build up that reserve.

Regarding the voltage, there is a tolerance of +/1 0.2 VDC from controller to controller. I've had four of them and they all had a different charge point. My current controller sits at 28.5 to 28.6 VDC.
As far as damaged or worn out batteries, has anyone had to replace them yet? I was considering ordering a spare set just to keep around in case I need to replace one or more... but if it's likely to be a year or more, then I won't.

I've had the system for 1 year and haven't needed to swap out batteries. But I did swap out a single dump pack battery to see how the system would handle a single new battery. (Just fine btw)

One year with the original v1.0 battery pack and 6 months with the v1.5.

Fenton or Rob will be the bellwether for battery longevity. Fenton has been operating on the same batteries for over a year and a half and Rob has a VW that he has been operating for years on the same batteries.

I had a moment where I mistook @robwbright for @Robftss and got really confused as to why the architect was asking about ordering replacement batteries.

Is it Friday yet?

Thanks for all the responses everyone. I guess it's no big deal because the car goes run great. I'm surprised no one has had any battery issues yet. I had a Saturn station wagon once that the battery would always die in less than a year. Because of the heat I guess. The only battery I ever paid full price for was the first one because all the subsequent ones had a prorated warranty.

And where did that battery come from?

Why do you need the lengths? Just curious? Everything is included in the kit including looming for hidding cables.

Well i am from oz and i dont like the way gums has run his cables over the top of the motor . i want to run down the left side of the car to controller hiding the wires as i go , then from the controller under the air box to the ESC unit. as far as i can tell doing it this way all i need to extend is the pedal switch. just need to know how long wires are on american vertion. this way i dont have to wait for rob to mod on to suit oz cars.

Thanks John
