Poll: Visconti Tuning in South FL

Hello Ladies and gents. As many of you know, Visconti tuning has a great reputation and proven track record as far as ECU tuning is concerned. With this poll I want to gauge interest to see how many people would be interested in getting a personal Dyno tune from him. The way this works is we get a group of people, split his flight ticket equally (depending on how many people this cost might go away), pay for his tune and he just comes down here and flashes/fine tunes our cars.

This is a thread to gauge interest. If the response is positive I will then contact John to see how feasible is it and when can he come down here for us.

Thanks!

I was just talking to Perrin yesterday about purchasing a license and cable and tune. FA20 club has some great deals down here as well...

This is what I've noticed after being back in South Florida for the last year..our heat and humidity sucks and robs us of power on these small motors. It's amazing how much more crisp and clean the engine pulls on a cool day or night with less humidity than on our standard 80-85 degree days with 90 percent humidity. On the cool days (few and far between) the car feels great and makes me question my need for FI. On a hot and humid day I feel like the car is having a hard time pulling its own weight. After living in SoCal for the last 10 years near the beach in Orange County I guess I'm spoiled. The 60-70 degree temps and low humidity kept all my cars running great.

I've been holding off on the tune as I have the rest of my exhaust on order (header and Catback..front pipe and Overpipe are already installed) and I also am waiting on the Perrin intake. I think it makes more sense to have everything installed then tune and dial it all in...until the FI is decided upon but that's a few months out at least right now.

For others in South Florida..am I crazy or do you notice a big difference when the temps drop?

Noticeable, but not huge difference yes. I worry more about the tires when it gets colder. You can't hear squealing unless you really make some effort to warm them up.

Down for a group buy tune, but it'd have to be later in the year for me. Have a few more parts scheduled for purchase and I'd like to have the tune come toward the end if I'm gonna put down $500+.

Not sure if I want a tune or the TRD charger with a tune. Such decisions drive me nuts!

Having someone really knowledgeable tune your car is a definite benefit. My car is so close to stock, that I won't really benefit much from it. Perhaps in the future when I add some forced induction (what this car desperately needs), I'll be in the market. But I wouldn't be interested right now.

Thanks for organizing and putting stuff like this together though.

Even bone stock this car greatly improves performance with a tune. On pump gas they are pushing 12-15 whp with 93 octane tune. I've seen dynos between 22-30 whp with E85 and nothing else. Personally, I worry about longevity of the fuel system parts running E85 all the time so I will stick with 93 octane tune and a ton of bolt on parts for now like intake, header, exhaust, pulley, etc...my goal is 200 to the wheels with the above parts. I'm going to let the early adopters of the Vortech kit put a few thousand miles on the cars and see how the engine is holding up before I purchase the kit.

That said, go for the tune even if you're stock. Best hp per dollar modification out there.
