Arizona FRS/BRZ Dyno Weekend! (PHOENIX AREA) August 23rd & 24th - Featuring FA20CLUB

ATTN MODS: This is not a sponsored event in any way shape or form. This is being done for non profit, and done in an attempt to contribute to the local community.

Hey folks! As a number of you know I have been attempting to arrange a local dyno day with an in person tuner. As we know there is a large lack of available tuning resources in our region and no (as far as i know) ECUTek Licensed tuners. I have called a number of shops and have finalized organizing a two day rental of a dyno for the month of August. I have also arranged to fly in Toni from FA20club from Florida and he has agree'd to spend two full days on the dyno with us! I have negotiated with both the tuner & the dyno to get to what I consider a "reasonable" rate. As we will have limited time on the dyno and the cost of flying a tuner out, getting him a hotel, compensating for time etc there is a bit of a price attached to doing something like this. However thankfully I have made a few deals with the dyno & the tuner to drop their rates for both rental, time, and services in which they agree to forward to any members associated with this dyno weekend.

Innovate VS Vortech shootout!
Me and fellow member @evo4g63 have both agree'd to return our cars to factory condition prior to the dyno day. We will both be installing upgraded fuel system's following the event. As per popular request on the forum we have decided to give an accurate comparison of these two superchargers. Both of our cars will be running the stock, kit included pulley. We will be doing two tuning sessions each, one with E10(91 octane) and E85. Saturday morning we will load both cars onto the dyno for a number of pulls to get an average HP/TQ plot that we can overlay showing the power difference between these two superchargers. And how well they handle different fuel types.
Edit: It looks as if another shop may have beat us to this... I will verify with the shop and see about the conditions of their comparison.

As there has been much discussion over which is more powerful, which is better, which is more rational etc we decided to fork out our own cash to end this popular debate. Toni was willing to fly down originally to tune Me & evo4g63's car for a comparison dyno. After further discussion we decided to turn this mini-shootout into a dyno weekend to further help the community out. So keep an eye on the forum the week following for some dyno's!

Details:
Tuner: Toni @ FA20Club
Guest Star: Dezoris - Will be filming the shenanigans!
Dyno Type: Dynojet
Dyno Location: GoodSpeed Performance in Scottsdale, AZ
Hours allotted: 16
Dates: August 23rd & 24th (friday & saturday)
Cost: 150.00/hr. This will include the cost of the dyno, dyno staff members, tuner "availability" fee's. (this does not include base tuning fee's from the tuner).

The hourly cost is slightly over the cost of a few of the dyno's in phoenix (100-130/hr was what i was finding). We are basically "splitting" the cost of the tuner's transportation & hotel costs for this.

The deal I have made is that we will arrange 10+ cars to show up to be dyno tuned by Toni. We need all 10 to show up & pay to have the discounted rates he is offering. Toni has agree'd to drop the cost of licensing, and tuning for users to a very decent price. The price for having him dyno tune your car on average is roughly $50-150 over normal pricing, including all fee's. For a accurate quote on what to expect please PM me directly with what you would like.

I have also talked to Toni and he has agree'd to let people share ECUTek cables with their friends prior to him coming to town. As he would prefer to street tune the majority of the cars prior to getting them on the dyno to help reduce our dyno cost fee's. So if you have a friend available you can get a reduced cost to get your car tuned, and purchase a cable at a later date.

Tune options available:
N/A Stage 1
N/A E85
N/a Stage 1
E85 upgrade for existing customers
N/A Flex Fuel

Boosted maps
Boosted maps + E85 Dual map
Boosted Maps + Flex fuel

Current roster: Name - Type - Date - Deposit Status
1. nelsmar - Vortech Supercharged + Flex fuel Friday - PAID
2. evo4g63 - Innovate Supercharged + Flex fuel Saturday PAID
3. RedLeader - Innovate Supercharged - PENDING
4. jack43 - Vortech Supercharged 12psi + Flex fuel (and bolt ons) Friday
5. Sivtec N/A E85 - N/A Friday - PAID
6. Withnolock - N/A E85 Saturday - PAID
7. Bonks86 N/A E85 Saturday - PAID
8. Ninjin - N/A E85 - PAID
9. thesleeper - N/A - PAID
10. EZWood - N/A
11. dsrttigr - N/A E85
12. witness89 - N/A Flex Fuel
13.
14.
15.

Please PM me for a quote on estimated dyno time, and tuning / hardware fee's. The prices look higher than they actually are. I will gladly explain them over the phone.. You will unlikely get a deal this good any time soon!!! We are already filling up and running out of time on the dyno within 24 hours of "talking" about doing this! so PM quick!

NOTE: Non-Refundable Deposit of 1 hour dyno time ($150.00) must be paid by August 9th unless otherwise discussed. All cars will be charged 1 hour base dyno time (as of current Toni is estimating that N/A cars will take roughly an hour). The reason for this is I must pay for the dyno time up-front. PM if you need to make special arrangements. I do not want a deposit to stop you from joining the party. Going over an hour dyno time we will just calculate how much time you spent and work it out. I won't be rounding up to full hours on dyno times like most shops do.

Also there will be plenty of space to park. We will be arranging a grill to be brought and have us some good ole grill time!

Quick price list (will revise tomorrow!):
ECUTEK License: $250.00 (Normally $300.00)
ECUTEK Cable: $300.00
N/A Tune: $250 (Normally $300.00)
E85 Upgrade: $90.00
Flex Fuel Hardware + E85 Map: $550 (Normally $650.00)

Sample Pricing:
N/A With a borrowed cable: $500 + ~1hr dyno = $650.00 estimated.
N/A With a borrowed cable + E85 Upgrade (switchable): $590 + ~ 1.5hr dyno = $815.00 estimated
N/A With a borrowed cable + Flex Fuel = $500 + $550 + 1.5hr dyno = $1275.00 estimated
N/A With NEW cable: $800 + ~1hr dyno = $950.00 estimated
N/A With NEW cable + E85 Upgrade = $890 + ~1.5hr dyno = $1115.00
N/A With NEW cable + Flex Fuel: $800 + $550 + ~1.5hr dyno = $1575.00 estimated

Again, if your are confused at all, or have any questions feel free to PM me and I will clear any questions up for you! Thanks guys!

Edit: We are going to organize bringing a grill and having a BBQ / meet on saturday for anyone just wanting to come and socialize. Once I hear from the dyno tomorrow I will post the address up, a time, and we can organize that.

I will also be pm'ng people late this week(end) and starting to organize a semi-unorganized schedule for dyno time. That way the people that only have a specific time they could run their car can get finished up in time. Toni will be flying in Thursday evening, and leaving Sunday morning. So we have two full days to work with.

E85 fuel!!: I haven't checked but there may be a pump or two near by with E85. I however have talked to Joe @ GoodSpeed and they said they have a drum of E85 we can use. However it only holds 55 gallons. They will be charging roughly $4-5 a gallon (so estimate 45-65 to fill your tank) which may be ideal vs having to go drive out and fill your tank, or bring containers. If you would like to use their E85 instead please tell me ASAP so i can get a ballpark number of gallons to them. They will possibly be ordering a second drum incase we need it.

Pending organizational thingigingingingignigningis:
1) Who can bring in a grill?
2) Organizing food for saturday
3) Scheduling, if you have a window of time you need to dyno please PM me asap so i can get you scheduled in
4) Possible afterparty or dinner at a local establishment / house?
5) E85 organizing.

I think one of the options you wanted was N/A Stage 2.

Woot! Should be an epic day of sweating our assess off! P.s. the main Dyno day is Saturday for those mostly hanging out. Ill work out a grill if possible and whatnot for lunch.

I'm still hocked that this just "fell" in place at such short notice. Once I pay the Dyno ill post location info and maps for everyone.

Let's talk about fuel real quick. Since I planning on doing two different fuel types. I have a 5-gallon gas can, will that be enough to tune on? I'm thinking that I should bring the car in low-ish on pump gas, run it mostly out then refill with the good stuff for the second map?

Is there a place near Goodyear/Avondale that sells E85?

There is a pump in goodyear not terribly far from the dyno. I will call this afternoon and verify that they still serve E85 prior to telling you for sure that it is. Hopefully it is... as I was planning on just driving out there and driving in circles until my car gets low enough to fill up.

I really want to go e85 but I'm torn. Should I just bite the bullet and get the flex fuel kit? Or should I save the cash and deal with the hassle of doing the manual switch. Ninjin, what do you think about the flex fuel option?

Ill be going manual switch. Plus there are a lot of people by me that would let me use their cable.
