Also, there are situations in which one might reach the higher rev limiter even if unintentionally (missed shift for example), so it does matter if it is set to 7500 or 8200, 9000 RPMs. This is different than launch control in which you need to follow a specific procedure to engage.
Unless he has changed his presets, the raised rev limit is only available in 2nd gear (to increase 0-60 times along with launch control) and the raise is not on the base map 1. it is on 2-3-4

Very good and I stand corrected. Going by the general tune and its presets, there is no way to go over the stock limiter unless doing a specific procedure or asking for it to be defaulted to map #1.

Thanks for clarifying.

I know how to read log files. I've tuned using the AEM FIC and Allan Phillips Racing X1. I've used oscilloscopes to test and trouble shoot crank and cam position sensor issues. I've been using Palmer ScanXL Pro for 5+ years now to read and data log my selected OBDII parameters. I built and tuned a custom turbo setup on a 2008 Scion XB that made 240/240 whp/tq, raced it often and daily drove it for over 40k miles. Logging and reading ECUTek log files would not pose the slightest challenge for me.

The simple fact is that I didn't want to do that tedious crap anymore. I had hoped that I could trust a good tuner to do what I paid him to do without having to second guess him. Since I'm now being told that no tuner can be trusted and that it's necessary to double-check their work, I will give that advice due consideration.

Thanks.

This not my thread but I am asking that anyone not currently running a Visconti tune stop posting here unless it is to offer specific advice on an issue or question. There are threads for various turbo kits, superchargers, other tuners tunes, etc. Why can't JV tune customers have a thread where we can discuss tune revisions, issues, ask questions, etc.?

Thanks in advance for respecting the thread title and your fellow forum members.

Very good to know you are not new to tuning and have some good experience. I would think that with your years of experience you would know that tune quality are like almost everything in life, you need to trust but verify (and I think you already knew that, its just that you thought it being a dyno tune, it would be 1000% done, no need to do anything else and in the end you might have been absolutely right).

You don't even need to own an ECUtek cable. You can try and source a local one and log a few runs, see what they look like and if you like what you see then there's nothing to worry about, your initial assumptions would then have been correct.

Trust but verify my friend. I paid for a JV in person street tune, so I hope I can continue to post in this thread.

When I had the dyno tune done I only had a K&N drop-in, Borla UEL and Tsudo HFC front pipe. I've since added a Perrin pulley, inlet hose, over-pipe and just today, a custom Magnaflow axle-back from my buddy Greg at MBS here in MD. My plan has always been to get a dyno tune update after adding these mods. I was planning to again use Brady at Pure Automotive for future logging and tune updates but after more consideration I think I'll buy my own cable too, but only after ECUtek makes their big announcement. I'd hate to possibly miss out on something new.

Yeah, it can't hurt to double-check. FWIW, Brady is a tuner and he also looked at my dyno logs and saw nothing wrong. I also like to think that after tuning cars and motorcycles by ear for almost 40 years that I can hear or feel when something isn't right. Granted that I could still easily miss small tune issues that might only show up in a streamed data log.

I hope that you and many others will continue to post in this thread. I only ask that we all try to keep the content focused on JV tune info and not just another hate-fest over flex-fuel kits, bad tunes, or whatever. There are plenty of other threads dedicated to bashing JV already.

I've heard nothing but absolutely awesome things from Brady and also from my personal dealings with him. Good luck with all your mods and wish you nothing but the best.

False. You may be thinking of the new FA20club deal. 3 tune days included before you have to pay again.

Running the new Flexfuel tune V2.00B2. Cold starts with over 60% ethanol is much much better. It just hit 40F in Houston so I've been keeping 50% ethanol so the car actually starts. Everything is running good.

John is working on updates too which is good to hear.
