Hi!

#466 unit here in Washington DC metro area! purchased new on May/22/2015 and loving it!

These guys at the dealer did a disaster with the front plate, I already fixed it but I had to make a new hole :/

Well it honestly doesnt matter since nobody is even going to look under the front lip. But Sometimes those scratches come up to the front too.

You could just get a splitter and have that take the grunt of being hit and save the paint. But as long as it's just scratched in the satin black section of the lip, there is no clear coat so just paint more satin black over it. I've hit mine a few times and that's what I'm planning to do once I have time.

Wouldnt that look a bit weird on the RS1.0?

I was thinking maybe sticking some kind of black vinyl or something , idk

Maybe? I was thinking the opposite. After doing some snooping, I found this:

It is interesting, maybe not for everyone, but I want something more extreme.

Though, if that isn't an option, this is something that was made for the MKIV Jetta GLI's where the front lip sat extremely low.

If you made something like that (a template, laser cutter and a countersink bit is all you need) you could protect the lip while not having it take away from the look.

oddly enough I just saw this thread. Is this what you are looking for?

Although I dont know how this might fit in the RS1.0 , the thing is our bumper never really gets scraped its the front lip. Mostly right underneath the fog lights.
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=89084

But it seems a bit pricey , I have no idea how much the RS1.0 front splitter alone costs. So it might not be worth the investment if its the same price to just replace the splitter entirely.

Haha, yup that is exactly what I was thinking. Though, I'm not sure how much protection you get with the strips that far back, though they may fit the RS1.0 because they are that far back.

Idk if anyone has looked up the price of the lip yet, but I can't imagine it'll be cheap being made for a limited quantity vehicle.

I was with @Moto-P a few months ago when were hanging out at Cusco and we test fit the Protekt skid plates on my RS. The plates did fit. However, they were about flush with the lip from what I remember so they didn't do too much.
