I read it as more of a side effect than a reason for doing it, but OK.

Hurt Durr, better not have other opinions, because that's bad.

Respect all builds is more than likely your mantra.

Not at all, but you're calling him a loser for investing in something he enjoys and bettering himself at something he enjoys.

Think we found the loser

As stated by others, it's comparable to investing in a driving coach, music coach etc. You can make the argument that investing in a driving coach will make you a better driver on the road, but it's a bit of a stretch and once you're at a certain skill in driving it's diminishing returns. You could also make the argument that paying someone to coach you in gaming improves your decision making process and situational awareness.

A driving coach will 100% make you a better driver in all facets. It's not a stretch whatsoever. You'll know your own limits, you'll know the cars limits, that's something that can legitimately save a life.

Same with a physical trainer, you'll be healthier in real life.

A gaming coach just make headshot go boom, which might help with self esteem? But, if your self esteem is that closely linked to a video game, that's just sad.

Edit: anyways, I think that's enough internet arguing for the day. Especially not looking to waste time arguing with a smooth brain who spent actual money water-cooling a mid range card.

There you go criticizing how other people spend the money that they work for, lets see your water loop/set up on your 2080ti. Water cooling is for aesthetics, there is very little to no performance benefits even on high end cards. This is further exemplified with a hard tubing loop. So saying 'hErP dErP you watEr CoOlEd a $400 CaRd" tells me you don't know shit.

Edge cases/specificity will likely not help you in the general world.

I.E paying for coaching trying to attain a 500lb back squat will likely not help you live a healthier life and there are no statistics to support that it will. Paying for coaching to hit a 300lb clean and jerk will not help you be healthier. Will paying for a trainer if you're a complete novice help you be healthier? Sure.

Spending money on coaching to cut tiny amounts of time off your driving will likely not help you become a better driver on the street. Will coaching help you be a better driver if you're a complete novice? Sure.

There are diminishing returns once you hit a certain point in any hobby, but people invest in it because they like that hobby you dunce.

water cooling does have the significant benefit of relocating the heat extraction process to somewhere else. but thermally, there's only minute differences in heat extraction over direct air-cooling.

Definitely. In terms of any performance gain, it's miniscule/non existent. The biggest gain is auditory as a good loop can be near silent with close to no performance penalty. You might also get you maybe 5-7c less than good air, but on something that boosts based on temperature (like ryzen 3000) you're looking at maybe 50-75mhz.

Been working on Witcher 3 when I have time.

Hit level 26 today and took a few hours to have Griffin arms and armor crafted. Been wearing the standard raggedy stuff up to this point. Had the Skellige woman at Crow's Perch make me a full set of Superior Griffin Armor then had Hattori hook me up with a set of superior griffin swords. Pretty dang fun. Felt like a great payoff.

I just started this weekend. This game is amazing but man it can be brutal at times (story wise).

True about the story. I've played through it twice (once doing everything, second time just the main story line).

Both times I end up with the worst possible ending even trying to not get that ending the second time.

I've been finishing up Kingdom Come: Deliverance (decent game, but not as good as its reviews) and playing through Halo MCC, about halfway through CE.

Also tried to load Borderlands on my new rig, but when I originally bought it, it was on CD. You can no longer load it because they've shut down the copy protection servers used to validate the disks. Apparently there was a point where you could convert the disks to a Steam key but I missed the window.

Coincidence time.
I have tried to play Kingdom Come a few times but it just doesn't do it for me.

I have just finished playing Borderlands 1 (again) and have started Borderlands 2 (again). I have played the first 3 Borderlands for hundreds of hours. I still think they are fun games that don't take themselves too seriously. Having said that the 4th Borderlands holds no interest for me as I think it will be just more of the same.
