Pics of my Focus RS

Hi everyone, I've been a lurker here forever, so it's time I joined in on all the action. What prompted me to join was all the talk of the Focus RS in the 'FR-S vs 2012 Focus ST' thread. It's certianly a car that many people are fascinated by. Well, I own one. For us in Australia, the RS is a very rare car and we were never meant to get any in the first place. The 300 Australian Focus RS cars were initially meant to go to Ireland but their economy went down the toilet and Ford brought them out here. It was a miracle. Anyway I thought you guys might like to see some pictures! They were taken in Centennial Park in Sydney Australia.

I've been interested in the Toyota 86 concept when it was announced all those years ago and have followed the car ever since. I certainly like the car very much, it would make a great second car for me. I'm also considering the MX-5 and the Megane RS250, which murdered the BRZ in the EVO track test. I found that very disappointing. Nevertheless, I'm looking for a good rear wheel drive sports coupe or roadster to compliment the RS. Of course the Megane is fwd, but it's such a great car and at a similar price point.

The design of the RS is modelled on the WRC RS Focus in general but not on any WRC car in particular. I always thought the Gronholm Focus was the best looking WRC car ever made. The great thing about the RS is the super car level of torque, 440Nm! It's beautiful. It's one of a few cars, if any, that can be called a true minor masterpiece

It's the only car in the world that uses Ford's patented RevoKnuckle suspension. This, in conjuction with the Quife Helical ATB differential makes the car a pleasure in the corners. That image of Clarkson's face plastered to the side of the RS, as he is turning it, is no BS! In normal driving conditions, torque steer is non-existent, and at higher levels, very tame indeed.

The 300Hp, 440Nm, 5 cyclinder turbo charged engine, tuned by Team RS, is fanastic and absolutely bullet proof. The engine note has been tuned to perfection! Of course it's a 6 speed manual, with a very precise gear shifter and perfectly weighted clutch. Auto just makes me want to vomit and four doors make me feel a little queasy too.

The RS has the nicest and most aggressive rear end of any hot hatch. The sense I get is that Golf GTi drivers feel the most defensive when seeing the RS on the road. I tell ya, the daytime lights on the Golf don't help them to feel any better!

When the car is detailed, it looks like a fully sized toy model. It's really different and really striking to look at. Actually, the body panels are bespoke to the RS, and I must say, the paint job is beautiful. It's multilayered, with hints of lime and fresh lemon.

This is my favourite picture of the RS.

The two tier spoiler is a modern work of art

So Ford Europe needed somewhere to dump 300 RS's with KM on the speedo? LOL!
When did they do this? The RS is getting old now ;-)

Oh, this is a nice welcome! Where did you get, 'KM on the Speedo' ????????? The recession in Europe was the best thing to happen and we got a shipment of new cars to Australia. This was in 2010. I've had the car for over a year and a half.

Well, the RS is not old yet, but it's an instant classic. Lol, look at what the Megane RS250 did to the toyobaru. It made the toyobaru look stillborn!!! It doesn't look too good. By this showing, the toyobaru may not get the chance to grow old. Learn to pick your fights!

Pete,

Beautiful car. Love your enthusiasm. Those pictures capture it perfectly. Lots of depth not just to the style but also the driving experience. Major bummer we did not get this in the United States.

Cheers. :happy0180:

Crickey mate, maybe you should holster those pistols
The only difference I could think of between Ireland and UK - from a specifically earmarking 300 RS's for Eire - was KMH instead of MPH.

Anyways I didn't realise I was picking a fight Maybe instead of freaking out, you could read through some of my other posts and see what my POV is on these cars first.

But hey welcome to the forum. You've definitely come to the right place for OTT agro posts. You'll go down a charm

I too prefer rear-drive platforms but if ever there was a FWD car to own, it would be one of these.

I used to live in Mexico and had the opportunity to drive one its everything you would imagine it would be for a front wheel drive car. So well balanced.
