I like what @carbonBLUE has in mind for his build.

Also, it's cool he's down with the idea of a FMIC water spray kit, I posted about that while ago but folks seemed ambivalent about the potential benefits despite the cheap DIY nature of that mod, I think it's beneficial in hot temperatures. It's on my to-do list again.

yeah, this would actually be something i would use on hot days (98F-110F) when my car had been hard parked out side for a while.
Spray then drive and give it a couple more sprays to cool off the FMIC while cruising or when intake temps get hotter than i want.
and also for when i go to mineral wells.

I havnt decided on the gauges but i think im going to go with
1 boost pressure
2 af ratio
3 transmission temp
4 engine oil temp
5 intake temp

i might get a head unit that can give me digital displays of all that instead of doing pods... still dont know... i like my buttons on my radio too much lol

Last season I ran Fullblown's kit at 9 psi and made 310whp on 93 on the stock bottom end. we experimented with slightly higher boost levels but had to retard the ignition timing so much to stop it from pinging that we didn't see a very significant gain. in my experience, if you're running the car on pump gas, 9psi seems to be the threshold for safe, reliable power. that being said, I'm currently in the middle of installing a set of CP dropped compression ratio pistons (9:1) and a set of Brian Crower rods. I'll be interested to see what it makes on 15-20 lbs of boost at that CR.

Hope that helps.

Safe amount of boost on stock engine?

Holy thread revival from 8 months ago.

Once again, saying stock internals are good up to "x" psi is ridiculously arbitrary.

x psi Vortech is not equivalent to x psi Innovate is not equivalent to x psi FA20Club is not equivalent to x psi FBM is not equivalent to x psi PTUNING, etc.

If I were to run the PTUNING kit, as is, on pump gas without WMI @ 9psi, I'd run into problems in short order. However, if I were to run FA20Club 57trim @ 9psi on pump gas with a good tune I'd be ok.

There are other factors to consider, which are vastly more important than x psi.

With so many different configurations, designs and options it's rare to see any 2 setups exactly alike.

The most important relationship is that of the competent tuner, the meticulous owner and car.

Meth Injections = Rusty part + 70% more for catastrophic failure (Not practical for every armatures )

E85 = Very few fuel stations, and the Fuel consumption is 2-3x times more of the traditional 93. Your full tank of gas may just serve you 1/3 of the original mileage range

The best possible is to build a car running on 93, with conservative tune.

The good news is that with 93, and running around 10 PSI will have you in the range of 300-350 RWHP already. This already makes this car into a beast
While you would consume more E85 than 93, you would be paying a lot less per gallon. It's more than a $1 less per gallon in my area than 93.

Must be The TORQUE throwing those rods, not necessarily the Horsepower!

Just from basic numbers thrown around here on the forum, 300lb tq is around 450whp? Then I can see stock internals crapping out, rather than 300whp.

3 Year Thread revival! It's a miracle!!

I know the game has changed but good read though. Conservative tune it is. I'll talk with my tuner to make a VERY conservative tune. I'm not looking at anything over 8 PSI or anything over 280 whp.

I don't believe Boost is just another number that doesn't matter, I think it absolutely matters
