Sorry guys having too much fun out driving the twisties.

Yes as @Simpleviet noted, Mines/Hamilton won the vote. We will start from Livermore.

The parking situation around the Peet's is not ideal -- too close to downtown area and will be confusing for people to try and park/meet up. Let's do it at the Starbucks/Jamba Juice where we've met before. People who want Peet's, go get it first and then meet us.

Meet at 9AM, Roll out about 9:30AM.

Starbucks
2050 Portola Avenue
Livermore, CA 94550

The route will take us through downtown Livermore and to Mines Rd out to the Junction Cafe. From there people who need to leave early can turn around and go back, or take Del Puerto Cyn out to 5. Those who can continue on, we'll go up the backside of Mt. Hamilton and stop at the observatory at the peak. Take pictures, use the restrooms, visit the gift shop, enjoy the view, etc. Then down the rest of the way to San Jose. The schedule would have us at the Junction by 10:15, and then to the observatory by 11:00AM. Taking it easy down the hill you would reach San Jose (near Alum Rock/680) by 12 noon at the latest.

Sounds good. What route(s) did you and MyRx end up doing?

We did Mines Rd. A recon run so to speak.
Then I took Palomares home.

All drivers welcome, whether old, new or regular drive junkies. just bring your common sense and drive safely at all times.

For tomorrows drive please be sure you have at least a half tank of gas before we depart.

Also bring FRS walkie talkie radios if you have them.

Niiiiceeee! I met some new people to the meet. 10 86s total. The weather is a lot cooler compared to last 2 weeks. The roads had more gravel. Some bicyclist not too many. Few trunks along the way. I had some slips at the turns. Stopped at Junction. Chilled for a while. Ate some delicious sweet corn. Started to move out. I was going reverse. The steering wheel handle was very tight. I was like hmmmm hmmmm. Moments later I realize the engine was off as I was going reverse very slow. My bad Eric (The one in the hot lava) Hahahaha. We had some distances to catch up hahaha. Thanks for keeping up. Out of no where Plato was behind me and Eric, hot lava, went his way. I had more small screech slips on few of the turns while climbing up the mountain. Eventually top the mountain to the observatory! Although it felt a bit crowded when I got up there, it felt grand as eyes on both sides were looking at our cars. Yeesssss! Advertisement. Relax and getting to know one another. Beautiful views, all 360. Observatory was open for the public! Has a gift shop. After that, drove on the San Jose side of the mountain with few upins and some tight turns and smooth turns. Spotted a Red 86 climbing up the mountain. African chick? gave a hang loose sign. Stopped near Chevon/Grocery area. Said our good byes. Oh, there was heavy smoke coming from as we just left mt hamilton towards Alum Rock. Fiiiiireeeeee

Don't mind the blur I found out the cover was losing its stickiness and it cover a bit of the lens. O-well ><

Thanks again Plato and those who made today's drive happen! Great to meet new drivers and see others again! I have been out of town for a couple of weeks and had to wait another week to get in on a drive without the intense heat!

Got home through Del Puerto Cyn Rd after I bugged out of the group and the worst bits have been re-paved/asphalted. Keeping within the speed limits was great compared to the last time I went through with another low/lowered car, scraping on the high center-of-lane asphalt through corners. There's a bit left, but most has been fixed! Fun road for a drive to the CV, hint hint, wink wink,

Ordered set of BFG Rivals when I sat down at computer after drive today...

Eric G

Good thing we got to the top when we did. On my way back down there were at least a half dozen cyclist on their way up that we would have got stuck behind. Del Puerto was a fun little drive, though I need to get under my car from a fairly large rock that caught me somewhere on the underside.

Technically we had 11 cars with us today. Eric (in the Hot Lava) left us before we reached the observatory, and Sheena (NorCalGirl) joined us at the top.

Big thanks to @MyRx for shirking his family duties and helping to lead and call out all the hazards. Having a trusted voice warn you of all the hazards ahead sure makes driving these roads a far less stressful experience. Hats off to you sir. And hope your family forgives you quickly haha (buy ice cream that always helps).

Great meeting some of the new folks and I hope you all had a good time. Fun drive, great weather, awesome scenery. Thanks everyone for coming out and joining us on this cruise.
