I noticed a very slight bit of condensation in my passenger side tail light while pumping gas last night. The area was maybe the size of a dime. By the time I got home, it was gone. Ill be keeping an eye on it.

My car is under a cover outside, and its in the high 80s during the day then drops to ~60 at night, which doesnt help. It also rained Monday-Thursday this week, so the moisture was expected.

The one thing I love about Austin TX , hot and relatively dry. Plus I keep my car inside the garage. But I hope this problem is not universal.

Mine did that too, but not as heavily as in this photo. Good thing Scion dealers are replacing them

BTW: I did report to the Chief Engineer just now, and he says it will be under investigation immediately. You have to LOVE Toyota! (and Subaru!)

They definitely wanna know about that stuff as soon as possible so if an adjustment is necessary, it can be done on the assembly line rather than issuing a recall further on down the road. Much more cost-effective that way.

'tis better to have driven with condensation, than to never have driven at all.

Anyone else experienced this? It still hasn't gone away this morning. I think the tail light assembly has a bad seal or something...
it happened to me a few years ago and what i did based on other owner experiences. removed the tailight bulb and i stuck an air dryer in its lowest setting to clear the condensation, it took long while but it cleared it up. bring it your to the dealer and it will be covered under warranty. you might wait a long time to get a replacement but it will be covered.

In the meantime, if you are consistently having light condensation in the lamps try this.
In most dry food goods, there is a small bag of desiccant (moisture absorbing beads packed in a paper bag). You can try to put that into the space between the reflector and housing to soak any offending moisture.

I used to do this with my foggy Lexus SC300 lamps, and it works well for a few months per bag.
Just be careful not too close to the light bulbs...

Hmm, I recall seeing a post from a Japanese guy finding this on his 86. Have we found the first widespread problem with the cars?

Thanks for the post, civicdrvr. Definitely keep an eye on it!

I'm not sure if the high humidity in North Carolina makes the condensation problem any worse but it I'm sure it's not helping it clear up. If this minor issue is the only problem I find with the car, I'll be a happy camper.

PS - I love this car.
