I have a set being built. Along with a bunch of other fixes for weak spots and poor high rpm shifting. I'd like to think I'll be testing it by summer, but there is really no timeframe on when it'll be ready for me to install

So no real availability then. Ah well. I have an extra transmission laying around and thought I'd look into having it built. Ah well. It's no rush for me. I'm only on a Sprintex 210.

Once I get to beat on it for a little and we make sure it's all good it will be marketed. I'll be testing it at 600whp with mickey Thompson et street radials

Ufff it's all coming back! The heat soak, the timing belt, fry clutch and the easy fading brakes.
Man that was mechanic 101 to 3560.
Now I'm trying to avoid that rout with the FA20, so ALL fluid should be cool at all times (peace of mind) and AT (no easy clutch upgrade) (BTW that was the fuse that was remove and after that trany start to fall like flys) in the AWD Talon... A good combination was a heavy duty pressure plate with the OEM disc (good because last longer than stoke and didn't break trany as easy)...
Outstanding setup? Didn't find it
Just move on.

@Reaper, have you buy chance fitted an STi 6 spd yet? Assuming that'd be more cost effective than a TKO or T56 or super magnum and definitely a V160.

Yes you'd need a rwd converted one, but would that tack on a lot of cost? Iat just popped into my head, didn't really think about it lol

@Reaper, would it be worthwhile to have a custom 4th gear made that can hold the torque that you and others are putting out? I've found a fair number of racing transmission manufacturers that could cut a stronger gear for you. Although that would move the failure point to somewhere else, I'm sure.

It would be the synchros then. The carbon synchros would be expensive as well.

I found a company that builds dog boxes and sequential manuals (for STi's, at least,) rated up to 590 lb-ft. I imagine that would be cost prohibitive as well, unfortunately.

You'll have a bump hanging down where the front diff is, but I suppose you could use that to hold more transmission fluid and run cooler.

I'd have to wonder where the shifter would fall. The STI engine is mounted in front of the front axle, and the shifter's right on top of the transmission. Our engine is on top of/behind the front axle, but our shifter is extended backwards from the transmission. It would be perfect if pushing the STI transmission back to mate with our engine lined it up with the shifter hole in the tunnel. Swaps don't usually go perfectly, though.
