I may or may not have a total crush on Abbate. I'm super stoked I got to support her races this season and even more stoked she smoked everyone!
@SisterBlue22, you're definitely welcome here. It's the internet though, so the odds of you running across someone or something you don't like is higher than anywhere else.

I also never understood the childish way "men" feel the need to make fun of, insult, and demean women "just for the fun of it".
I guess that makes the ones who have low self esteem feel "more manly"............

Ive only had the opportunity to teach my wife to drive stick once on this car. I taught her probably 8 years ago on a VW, but she never really liked it and I was impatient then. She lost interest in manuals from that point on.

However, she had some interest and was willing to try again. She was able to get the car moving, but stalled a bunch of times. No biggie since it's a learning experience. We only drive in our neighborhood without any traffic. Once she feels confident, we'll take it around town. I'm surprisingly excited that she wanted to try. Always nice to share interests with the wife.

When I broached the subject of my new car being the FRS, the wife said, and I quote, "Go ahead and get it, you just aren't allowed to be a **** about me driving it."

So, while she doesn't drive it often, if the need arises where I need her car (4 doors, a trunk that it big enough to carry stuff) she uses mine. Or if mine is in the driveway and she needs to go somewhere, etc. She likes to drive it and even though she is worried about getting a ding on it, it's only a car.

On the topic of manuals, we've been driving only manuals in the family for 20 years. I taught my wife to drive manual when she was 7 months pregnant with our eldest, so there's no issue with her driving mine. Other than she complains about having to drive her car.

Fixed it for you.

This is only an issue if your _______ doesn't know how to drive the car in the same manner as you. Either your world is going to burn down or nothing will change.

YMMV.

I taught my significant other how to drive stick in mine since it's so easy to shift, she actually picked up pretty quickly. I was a bit worried about the clutch/transmission, but she's a smart cookie so I don't think she did too much damage...

I let my wife drive my FRS all the time. Never had an issue. Her car is a '13 Focus ST so MT is no issue for her.

I'm still in the honeymoon phase with my STI so she hasn't driven that yet lol. Maybe in another month or so when I'm actually willing to drive her car over mine.

I taught MomHawk to drive a MT in my nearly new '85 MR2 in about 10 minutes in a parking lot when we were dating, and she has driven an MT off/on as a daily driver since then so I have no issue letting her drive the FR-S.

In fact, now that I think about it, she drove the FR-S before I did. When we went for the test drive after it got to the dealer, she drove first, putting miles 7 and 8 on it. I then put mile 9 and 10 on it back to the dealer.

I let my girlfriend drive my FR-S on the track after having only learned stickshift (in the FR-S no less) that year. Talk about butt-puckering. She almost off-tracked at Thunderhill, dipping the rear left wheel off the edge and somehow managed to not lose it and get back on course. I get a real kick watching her drive cool cars, but she refuses to drive "my" car ever again.

Here she is driving MT in her bday gift to me, a 991 Carrera S (MT!) rental.

I know...i know. Put a ring on it.
