+37 is the size chosen for CSG spec TWS T66-F and Titan7, because that is the highest that will clear any reasonable variant of tire and camber modifier on stock suspension.
i think my BFGs are oversized, and i wonder with the lower camber bolt and upper crash maybe i had more negative than i thought and thats why there was contact.

I'm running the small SPC lobed bolts in the lower holes with the stock lower bolts in the upper holes on KW v3's, it maxed out at -3.8*. I dialed it back to -3.2* very easily, the alignment guy loved that he could dial it back with the lobed bolts with the weight of the car on the wheels and not have to roll the car off the lift and bounce it around to settle the suspension again.

AFAIK RCE posted somewhere, that geometry wise it's a bit more beneficial to gain camber at lower mount, and another thing - even if coilovers have camberplates, imho it's still worth to fine tune camber using camberbolts, simply due camber changes linked to toe changes and how alignments are usually done - car lifted on alignment rig, and suspension tech dialing toe & camber from below of car with wrenches on both camberbolts & toe adjuster, while watching values off rig's screen.
Imho adjusting via camberplates themselves make sense only if onsite when at track, for some track-specific, weather-specific adjustments right there during trackday. Then it might be easier to do from above, on non lifted car. Not so on alignment rigs. When i imagine how suspension tech may need to crawl up for camber adjust at camberplates on lifted car, then back down for toe adjustment, then maybe several such iteractions .. sounds awfully clumsy and time consuming.

Can you please elaborate, assuming e.g. 245/40 GT Radial SX2, camber bolts and camber plates?

You can gain camber via bolts, plates, or other means. Gaining camber with bolts sacrifices clearance from tire to perch. Losing camber with bolts increases clerance from tire to perch.

Would you pick a different offset for non-stock suspension, e.g. CSG Spec TEIN Flex A?

I use the highest offset which is available, and space as needed, if needed. I have wheels ranging from +35 to +45.

Sure, just want to better understand the trade-offs and known good recipes before making a $1k+ purchase.

Not unlikely, but the whole purpose of me buying and modding the car is to learn more and get better. Don't want to learn by making expensive mistakes that are easy to avoid by doing a bit of homework, and I'm sure someone else will later benefit from the knowledge we exchange here.

I wish more folks had your mentality!

You'll probably want camber plates, see:

Just throwing this out there since we are on the topic, but with the poke you get with 17 x9 +35 and 245/40 tires and minimal negative camber, will the fender or fenderwell contact the tire in hard cornering?? and i mean with the softer stock suspension, not coilovers. This is another reason i am holding off until coilovers are installed. With the stickier tires i suspect more body roll which maybe contact would happen?

+40, use spacers for tuning

Currently have +45s with a 5mm spacer all around, -4 degrees of camber up front

Buy Tony's wheels, they already come with good tires
