I have the same rattle.

4500 rpm and up, sounds like a nut rattling on a bolt that's loose. If I pinch the lockout mechanism (squeeze on the leather boot below the shift knob) then it stops but I have to squeeze fairly hard. I definitely considered a thin shim or something to take up the extra space.

If anyone has theirs out of the car, and has a set of feeler gauges, your input on the gap would be greatly appreciated!

Crap. Mine is doing it now too. Took me a week to figure out what the noise was. Stupid shifter, the noise is barley noticeable but once its heard it cannot be unheard.

Every.
Damn.
Time.
I step on it and get about 3500ish rpm.
Its driving me crazy. I am going to have to take it apart on my next free day.

Any more info on this? Can't find that TSB posted anywhere publicly, would be curious what the technical reason behind it is, as it might be something we can fix ourselves.

I have already performed this TSB on a customers car. It is a complete shifter assy. It looked no different than the one i pulled out, but sure as shit it fixed the problem and no more noise.

What is all included/needed for this issue? I have the shifter rattle as well. However I noticed there is a bit of play in the shifter now. Anyone else have this?

Go into your local dealership complaining of an audible rattle coming from the shifter above 4000 rpms.
The updated part number is SU003-04598.
the bulletin # is S-SB-0014-13.

Would like to, but I'm in Canada, so chances of them doing anything are slim to none. Might be something I have to do myself. Is there a way I can print of the actual American TSB for this?

Yeah I am not sure how things are done up there. If it doesn't seem like they are getting anyway, maybe ask them to call TAS (Technical Assistance) and have them reference the US TSB. I am honestly not even sure if Canada has this updated part either.
And if you did end up having to resort to buying it yourself, you are better off buying
This
It would probably be the same price.

Had the rattle before/after the Kartboy shortshifter. Just FYI. Check here for more info.

Mine has now developed the same thing. 6500km run and now it starts. Will have to take it to the dealer for service in the next couple of weeks in any case.
