BRZ Test Drive
I was bored;on Tuesday of this week I rang the dealership where I have a BRZ on order. I asked what the chances of a test drive were. I was told sure, when would you like. (At this point my heart rate went up.) So this morning I went for a little drive. There were 2 main things I wanted to rate: the seat and low end torque. I wasn't really concerned about flogging it, I am capable of doing that to my own vehicle but those two points were of interest given that I have a one piece bucket in my existing car and I won't be caning it through traffic.
So, the drive. From the start I thought low end torque was great. I started from lights 4 times in 2nd (deliberately) and stalled it once. Slight panic as I had traffic behind me and I was feeling in vain for the key lol. I wasn't the one one started the car at the dealership and it didn't occur to me to reach for the starter button.Yeah , the torque dip was noticeable but to me inconsequential. As was pointed out by someone else maybe it's not so much the torque dip but the fact that there is so much torque below it. I thought it was a very good seat for a standard part, not as good as my existing seat but adequate which is just as well considering it can't be legally replaced. After a few kilometers of 80 and 100 km/h we came back via some industrial area with a mid-sized round about. I didn't mean to, I was intending to be restrained but my mind had other ideas. It (my mind) slipped into fun mode, I was powerless to stop it. Now, the road was damp, I had about 5 kilometers of BRZ time behind me, it wasn't my car and I exited that roundabout with this massive smile on my face thinking omg, this is awesome. The traction light had lit up but it still slipped a little at the rear with minimal correction from me. Actually , I'm smiling now remembering how it felt. All in all I am rating this short drive 11/10. Looking forward even more to when it hopefully turns up in April. Last edited by Captain Snooze; 09-30-2012 at 08:14 AM. |
