Thanks Strat. Tried the 4C and it's another no go due to height. Height is a huge issue.

The FR-S fits like a glove! In all honesty, I'm about to toss 15K at the FR-S over the next two years and it's hard to swallow. I'm getting butterflies lol I plan trying a few other cars first. I'd like see the new Supra too.

I'll save you some time, go drive a Z4, it won't be much different.

I don't think I could spend $15k on an 86 unless I included a paint job, maybe ~$10k; $5k FI, $2k wheels and tires, $3k on coilovers and alignment parts and go rip.

If I missed something please point it out.
Renders and speculation from clickbait websites do not qualify as concepts.

Almost exactly what I had in mind, less paint! (CDN $)

7-8K FI, 4-5K on tires and suspension, the rest on a leather interior and cosmetics. I need to crunch the numbers again now that I know what I would like.

Edit; never considered and Beammer. I'll have a look

What stage of life are you?

Kids on the horizon?

Income potentially downtrending if you or partner drop out of workforce to launch the kids? Kids are expensive. Price diapers and formula. Check tuitions at decent colleges.

If you are past that... go look at the Boxter and Cayman. Rent one for a week.

And you should hav your answer.

Oh gawd, well past that lol Kids are grown and gone. Mid fifties.

Looks like I need to try the Cayman out that everyone is recommending. Hope I fit!

If you do want to go that way then come see me in London. My son's brother in law sells them. He can get you the best deal possible on new or will find out exactly what you want in used and grab one if it comes in. Could be worth the drive.

Caymans are everywhere. How tall are you? I'm 6 feet and also in my mid 50's. I fit fine in the 4c with a few inches to spare. The seat base can be adjusted (by the dealership). The ingress/egress on the 4c is very tight and can make it feel like it is small inside. Well ... it is small.

The Cayman is like most P-cars in that it performs well, but insulates you from the "raw experience of driving". The 4c is unapologetic in that regard.

6' 6" Ideally, the 4C would be a perfect for me. But, it's 4 inches shorter than the FR-S. I'll talk to them about the seat and see what they can do.

I am concerned that the Cayman is too refined. It's been written here many times. There's a happy medium to be had and I'm not giving up on the FR-S unless something really "wow's me"

Thanks for the reply.

From my standpoint, I went forced induction and if I were to do it again I would probably trade the car for another less depreciating platform and come back when the car is dirt cheap.

I love my brz, but the constant stress of the motor blowing or the belt breaking is not worth the extra stress in a DD. Every new noise or chirp is a new migraine and with the car depreciating so much, it's almost easier to jump ship and wait until it hits rock bottom to get back into the platform. It's no lie this car will be under $10,000 in the near future. I met someone who bought one a few months ago for $10,000 :/
