You don't understand mod culture. This is all part of it. Otherwise you just should of bought a car more suited to your tastes and not mod it. It's like cooking then complaining how cooking sucks because you have to wash up the dishes.

I think his whole point was to show the side everyone else ignores in their mod posts, how things can go wrong and just be a pain in the @ss to do in general. I'm glad he does. His videos are the most entertaining 86 videos out there.

Heh, lesson learned after spending $35k + modding my old Evo. The amount of headaches I got from it were appalling.

I bought my 86 right here on FT86 from a fellow member. He did most of the work and modifying and unfortunately due to life events, he had to sell. I was happy to find his car on here because he had accomplished everything that I had planned on doing. FBM turbo kit and all. He put incredible amounts of thought and care into this car, and I am continuing to do the same. I absolutely love it, and though the majority of the warranty is void, it was well worth it and I have zero regrets. However, I should add that I bought this car knowing it is modified and that there will be future costs and work involved that I otherwise would not have with a stock vehicle.

Dezoris, I respect the work you put into your car and your experience. You brought to light the darker side of modifying that most people just starting their journey may not realize. Hopefully this will deter those that hadn't realized, and excite those that are ready to travel down that path. The modifications everyone choose only bring more diversity to our platform and it blows my mind each time I see another beautiful 86.

I went down this road with my SRT-4 Neon 10 almost years ago. Turbo kit, clutch, fuel computer, suspension job, mounts, exhausts, and all the other misc sh*t (lot's of wiring jobs, dialing in the A/F on the street if you were too impatient for dyno time, etc)that goes along with it. It was stupid fast (I drag raced all the time) but eventually it just became a tempermental pain in the ass that I simply lost interest in constantly dealing with.

I've got a lot of terrific memories from then, but I haven't done anything as deep since, and I'm not sure I'll ever go that far with a car again. I'm "happy with Cobb Stg2" kinda guy now... speaking of which I really miss my STi.

Anyway, enjoy it for what it is, move on when you're ready.

Aftermarket part quality and fitment issues are generally a large part of the headaches involved with modifications. Bad tuners, poor durability of "performance" parts, or just plain fail on design just adds to cost and frustration.

I used to think "bolt-on" meant "bolt-on". Now when I see "bolt-on" I automatically assume minor modifications required with 80% chance of fitting the first try.

OEM may not be as cool, but at least it fits and usually works as advertised.

Get what you pay for....NEVER had to modify anything to put a Mugen part on a honda unless it was for a different car then what you were putting it on.
