Hey all, I just got a new set of summers, and am having some fitment issues. I have 17x9+35, running 255/45/17 BFG Sport comp-2 tires. I just put them on for a bit this weekend to see how the fitment was, as my last set was 17x9+40. I am noticing some rubbing in the rear that will require some rolling, and trimming the rear bumper tab. I have seen trimming the rear bumper tab many times, but having just looked at my car in that area for the first time, I am confused as to which part to trim? It looks like the bumper attaches to the rear quarter in this area, so I am confused as to how you would trim this without compromising the bumper staying on? Could someone point me in the direction of a DIY/pictures on which area to trim? Thanks!

Never posted an image on here, so not sure if this will work. However, Not sure how much lower than stock I am, never measured the difference. Hopefully the pictures can illustrate properly. Really just looking for info on which area of the rear bumper "tab" people generally trim, because I believe that is where I am rubbing.

@Wpomp The tire you have installed is the wrong size. It is about 1" too tall. 255/40 is the better size.
What suspension do you have installed?
You will need to raise the car or trim the tab quite a bit. It will likely need be trimmed to the point where the push tab is no longer there and the bumper would be held on from the other clips and from the "L" part of the bumper would be "hooked" on. But if you pull on the bumper, the "L" part of the bumper will be easily pulled off as the tab is no longer there.

1. raise car
2. change tires
3. trim bumper or let tires auto trim bumper by rubbing

Welp, Thats a big mistake on my part. Guess I shall see about a return if I can, and if not, live with the mistake. Raising the car was something I was going to do a bit of anyway, so that wouldn't be a big deal. I have ST coilovers on the car at the moment.

Thank you for the clarification on the bumper tab trimming, I appreciate the explanation!

Thanks! Haven't had a chance to really drive the car much. Only drove it around in a parking lot, but when I did go over a bump the rear bumper tab rubbed so I used a dremel to shave it down. At full lock the tire rubs the fender liner. Also rolled the front fender near the sidemarker just to be safe. Alignment right now is set at -1.8 camber front and back and toe is set to
.08 front and back.

Thanks for the info, gives some insight into my setup. I'm trying to fit an 18x10 +39 F and +44 R and it seems very mixed on going with a 255 vs. 265 depending on the tire, but your setup is fairly close to mine

Yeah I'm running 245/45 and almost lowered 2" in the rear with no rubbing, but it's close. Yeah unfortunately live with it or take a hit on selling the tires slightly used and getting some smaller tires. Do you have adjustable LCA's? Dialing in some camber might get the top of your tire far enough away from that tab, but those tires are pretty fat haha good luck!

It's been cold af lately TN weather is the worst.....But hey Happy Valentines everyone

But here you guys go! I think I'm having issues at full lock, I'm either hitting or rubbing something. I'm also noticing at full lock the car tends to "raise" up a little I tried that when I was parked in my drive way.

Tein Flex Z, Lowered an inch all around. Haven't gotten an alignment yet I'm not sure where I'm sitting at with an inch drop. I'm still debating on LCAs.
