I found the 18 corolla looks better in person and in a more subtle color. That photo in blue makes the front end look obnoxious to my eye. Far to busy, especially compared to the earlier gen which was simpler.

Well, I've had a couple of Honda's and they both looked better than anything Honda has produced in the last ten years.

This is my 1986 NS400R that I raced in production class and my 1990 US model RC30.

Those definitely do not look better. Nice though.

How about making the 86 symbol on the side be the side marker?

Won't meet many regional safety requirements. Or at least it won't and still look anything like an 86 symbol. For example in Canada it must be an amber reflector and light of a minimum size. An 86 symbol that would meet the requirements would look horrid.

Exactly.
The Z4 has a turn signal in the fender logo, but there is still an ugly reflector in the same spot as the BRZ's.

So this thing is confirmed for real now? Cool, but 2021 is so far away anyways.

Things must be different in Canada lol. I feel like my car gets no respect around here, maybe laughs at best. I’m all stock though minus lowering/exhaust.

I'm curious if they do use the 2.4, if the compression will still be high like the current FA20.
I'm close to paying off my 1st gen '13 and although I have Fast and Furious dreams of adding FI, exhaust the whole shabang a bang, but most of my research makes it seem like the high compression is the achilles heel in making dependable daily power in these especially if you want to get close to 300hp.

I've DD'ed my car for over 6 years now (67K miles), 5+ with FI (65K miles). I'm pushing 300whp and haven't had a problem yet (knock on wood). Not sure how much more dependable daily power is needed.

Well in its FI trim on the subaru ascent its 10.6:1 and speculated to be heavily detuned, and it uses 87 octane.

I don't see why in NA form if that motor makes it to the twins it wouldn't be higher and equal to what we have now, 230-240 hp doesn't seem too outlandish or hard to pull out of it NA form....

Geez- an unprovoked attack on the Z4. I'll let it slide since even I will admit it is a terrible detail on the car

No you got me wrong! I used to have a facelift E85. It was a fantastic car. I love the design of the original Z4, and the facelift makes it even better. If I didn't need the back seats I would have bought another one, a facelift manual 3.0si, instead of the BRZ.

FYI on side markers:

US and Canada require a front marker light and reflector in amber, the rest of the world requires a side turn signal that can be in a number of different spots: the wheel well like our cars/Porsches/RX-8/etc, on the fender between the front wheel and door, on the mirror, etc.

Manufacturers will sometimes combine them, like the twins, so the US gets amber marker light, rest of the world gets clear lens turn signal. Other times, they keep them separate (mostly when the amber marker/reflector is integrated into the headlight) so we end up with both and many US cars get the side signal even though they aren't required.

The zenki RX-8 had side markers like ours (easy to swap with the JDM clears), but the kouki moved the marker/reflector into the headlight (harder to get rid of the amber if you don't like it) and added a side signal next to the door.

I think side signals are far more important especially if you are in an urban environment with multi-lane roads. I not only swapped my amber side marker housing for the JDM clears, but I rewired them to act as signals.

What's involved in wiring them as signals? Might do that...
