Video - 86 doing a mountain run in Australia. Quicker than it looks. (vs 600hp supra)
OK so this video was given over this evening.. It doesn't even seem particularly quick, but the cornering makes it so stable, its crazy [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_3zqkml0sV4"]Toyota 86 GTS (GT86, FT86) stock engine, stock car with coilovers mountain run, engine sound - YouTube[/ame] Now for a "virtual race" between a JZA80 T04z powered supra and the stock 86 on coilovers. Interestingly, if you run this video side by side in another window, next to the video of a heavily modified 600hp supra on semi slicks doing the same road, you will see that power is not everything :P The 86 OWNS it when it comes to agility.. (also note that daylight driving is a lot easier!) You can tile the windows, kinda like this screen cap I did: **EDIT** OR thanks to LefFootBrake - here is a tiled window showing both videos, both cars, on the same road. stock 86 vs 650hp supra... 86 wins 1st Leg: http://youtubedoubler.com/4DlZ 2nd Leg: http://youtubedoubler.com/4DmH Exact same route, aside from where the supra gets stuck behind traffic (thus video in two legs) The second leg the supra/86 are much closer.. Before anyone starts going off about unsafe driving.. You will notice neither car's driver is being a moron, is staying on the correct side of the road, and leaving HEAPS of room for error. Text from the video: Spirited mountain drive to the speed limit. The 86 GTS was running in 'street mode' vehicle stability control, not even in sport mode. The VSC only kicked in once on a corner. This car has A LOT of room left for faster times, but considering this is a public road, please note that the vehicle was not pushing anywhere near to it's limits, the driver was keeping within a level of safety that accommodated other drivers and hazards such as animals and road debris. While it may look like the vehicle crosses over the white line, no corners were cut. It is important for anyone driving on the street to leave room for accidents, it's not worth acting a fool, and as you can see, there is plenty of fun to be had without being stupid, especially in the 86 Out of interest, compare to the other video of the "Big Horsepower supra -http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8g89Utv1BXc - run the video's side by side after matching the appropriate section up, and the agile 86 actually destroys the big power supra.. Both vehicles could have gone MUCH faster. This is a general comparison for interest's sake, showing that 600hp does not make a huge difference on a mountain road

I'm not gonna lie. That looked like a lot of fun. Seemed to handle itself really well. Albeit with coilovers.
