However, if find out later that it won't happen till 2018 or later, it would kill me
I'm pretty confident this is the 2017 model so we should see it hit the dealers this August/September.

Spoke with my dealer and and they said there has been no notice about the facelift model. Chances are it is an '18 model.

I was surprised we didn't see the new BRZ with the new "86" at the Auto Show.

I'm still waiting on a 300hp turbo version that a guy at a Toyota dealership was telling me would come out in 2013 lol

It's true there has been no notice of the facelift model but the dealership managers already got the preliminary release months of all models and the MY17 BRZ is scheduled for a June/July production & August/September retail.

Also it's almost illogical to believe it will be a 2018 model. Don't forget that they produce the BRZ on the same line as the Toyota 86. It doesn't make sense for them to be putting on any new engine parts or chassis modifications or even the new steering wheel. They're sourced in bulk so that would be inefficient production.

Finally, it is true that a dealership only knows as much as the general public at this point. Also, the 2017 Impreza facelift was a giveaway from the concepts.

Some guys @ my dealer told me next twin will be on Miata chassis with Subaru engine & Toyota designed exterior..... Yaaaa
Actually 2400 lbs twins probably don't need a turbo.

Yeah.... thats not going to happen. The thing with the Mazda was if Toyota was going to split from Subaru. But they aren't just yet. That S-FR car is what the Toyota Mazda cross over.

Well considering Subaru's low-key handling of the BRZ expect it to arrive shortly after the Toyota version.

also, a dealership's word on new models is about as useful as a Boat on Land

How likely will all the parts fit on our cars?

I know sometimes with Porsche the parts don't always mix with the pre-facelifts.

100%. The cars shown in the pics are 16s with the 17 parts being put on them. The 17s are probably not even in production yet.
