I don't believe any of them can run Torque out of the box. you would need to root it first.

As the root files have only been tested ths far on the TUN21 or T7019A why not just go with the T7019A since it will fit in the FRS with no changes. Only issue is the LEDs are green though.

If you email them they will tell you what colour the LEDs on the one you are looking at are.

Well it's running android 4.0 so I have a feeling it might be able to work Torque out of the box, and if I don't have go through the trouble of rooting it and what not, I think that might be the better option. This one is a Toyota unit as well so I am guessing fitment should be the same. I sent them an email with a few questions, just waiting on a reply.

Way back in this thread (somewhere) I thought the OP had looked at different android 4 units and found they weren't pure android but running CE. ?? Interested in what you find out from the manufacturer as it looks like a decent unit yet costs less that the other models. Wonder why?

I was curious as to why it was cheaper As well, seems to include all the key features as the other one including capacitive touch. And btw, in the title it specifys that it is infact a PURE android unit

The issue out of the box is that the Bluetooth communication is generally locked down to only communicate with phones and will not communicate with an ELM327 or an HKS OB-LINK.

I should have answered the "out of the box" issue a little better in my last post. Pretty much all of theses units (incl TUN21 and T7019A) will run torque or carscope out of the box but won't receive the ELM327 or OB-LINK data.

Keen for you to try it though. Maybe the supplier will agree to send to you and if it won't do what you want then refund your money if you send it back.

Thanks for the additional info! Still waiting on an email from them with more info!

Update:

They Emailed me back with little more info, the unit would aparently also be a perfect fit like the T7019A, and has the same features, the LED's are orange/amber, when asked about the ELM327 he said he doesn't think it will work. The reason why the unit is less expensive is because it is from a different manufacturer.

Does anyone know if there are root files for 4.0 firmware out there that would work?

Orange/Amber LEDs would make it a better option than the T7019A for the FRS/86.

I have no idea about root files though. @GreenPants or @2forme might know. @2forme might have a contact at Xda developers that might know or you could post over there to see. http://forum.xda-developers.com/

Not to mention better performance specs and a more recent firmware , if there is a root possible for this, i'm definitely buying it!

That unit definitely looks interesting. I doubt it will support bluetooth OBD2 out of the box, but Android 4.0 supports USB-OTG natively, so you should be able to use a USB OBD2 dongle.

Do you know if it would support a wifi obd2 dongle in that case as well?

Does anyone know of a way to reset EVERYTHING to default? I noticed that reflashing, wiping and or resetting doesn't erase some of the low level firmware settings such as panel button mappings, boot logo, TV Mode, TV Norm, Fan Temp. and such... - any way to reset those?

After updating the rom with hal9k+greenpants rooted rom I lost all audio from built in apps or android apps. I get absolutely no sound out of the speakers other than the key-press beeps if I enable that in the settings. I tried resetting with the Rst pen button, full power off, factory wipes, reflashing all stock and custom roms I could get my hands on and all combinations of the above.

Before rooting I had:
Android version: 2.3.7
MCU version: 2.11.4-1-10-0101
System version: 2.20.21
DVD version: 2.13.11-1200wb

I can't find an update with MCU 2.11.4-1-10-0101 out there and I suspect that's where things might have changed...

I have a request out with the seller for a stock rom hoping that fixes it. Any suggestions in the mean time?

Wifi operates in Ad-Hoc mode, which requires root to access.

Weird. Are you saying you get no sound from the stock music app and navi?

@GreenPants do you have any ideas as I haven't had this happen to me so can't see it being a root file issue given most of us have not had this occur.
