My cooler has been solid works better than expected.
@PERRIN_Mladen

My aeroquip hoses are too tight for my application can you have Jeff fab up some custom stainless lines with black fittings from BAT? Also with additional abrasion protection included?

Dezoris,

Is the tightness of the hoses the result of the different headlight shape between the FRS / BRZ (I'm assuming it was prototype'd on a BRZ given the review in your build thread)? I can see how / where it would rub and your issue makes me think it might be better to go with SS lines as well.

I'm just going to drop this here since I'm not getting help from nobody. I noticed oil leaking through the bottom piece of the Perrin spacer. So I took it out and noticed that the gasket is worn out after 4,000 miles.




Oil is sneaking through these holes..


Leaking through the piece on the top circle, initial damage through the bottom circle(maybe)



@PERRIN, can SOMEBODY help diagnose this issue!?

Any chance it could have been torqued down too hard? Did you already call Perrin?

^ The instructions didnt even state the torque specs. I torqued it down enough so there wont be any free play with the system.

Did you try and get a hold of Perrin? I appreciate you letting the rest of us know about the issue, but I'd give them a chance to fix it first. I am interested to see what they say though.

I know the spacer in the Perrin kit is different from the standard Mocal one (Perrin one is black, and the Mocal one is silver) but I don't see much actual physical difference between the two.

The picture below is the Mocal one. The original poster of the picture did say he was non-plussed about the appearance of the Mocal one though. Link to the original post here

In Perrin's instructions step 15g: Fully tighten thermostat housing adapter. Using a 27mm socket, tighten to roughly 25ft-lbs.

They must've updated it, the instructions I have didn't even have what size socket to use, I remember running to autozone a couple of times because the instructions didn't list it(I bought the Oil cooler in the first month of release).

LeeMaster, sorry about the O ring! We have updated the seal a while back to use two smaller O rings that should hold up better. PM me your info and we will get the new seals out ASAP!

Yes the prototype was built with Jeff's BRZ. When Chris sent me pics of the car with the Vortech kit, the lines were run differently because the BRZ headlamp design allows more clearance than the FRS.

So on the FRS with Vortech the lines are basically pinched going down the next to the intercooler pipes.

Chris I know we discussed this before but any chance Jeff can fab up some actual stainless lines from BAT? (Black with Black Fittings)

Or are you guys still too buried?

Thanks for responding. I thought that might be the difference. There was plenty of room for the lines on my BRZ but I don't have a Vortech on there... yet.

The new oil cooler kits are ready to go right now! We've shipped out a few kits late last week, and we will be shipping more very soon.
