Lucky you @Tcoat.

We love vinyls but are too picky on 'em. Someone gave me a box once and I forgot them in the garage of the house I rented. Asked new owner about them and they told me they were thrown away... sniff

Hell all the wire is pure silver and hand braided on this system they went that crazy with it. Anyways back to the albums he is always looking for the top quality ones (cant remember what they are called) I am sure he would appreciate them more then anyone else you may know he likes all music BTW
I grew up in abject poverty (true Canadian poor white trash right here folks no joke) so from 1969 to 1974 all my albums were played on turntables from the 50s that my Dad scavenged from the garbage and I cobbled together into one working unit from the all of them. I say "unit" because these were not separate turntables and amps like people now picture but one big mothern' thing filled with vacuum tubes, mechanical rheostats and other things that would baffle most on this forum. It was during these rebuild/Frankenstein builds that I learned that capacitors held a charge even when not plugged in for unknown years!

From 1974 to 1980 I had the cheapest turntable and amp that Zellers had to offer. I also hauled most of the albums from posting to posting around the world and they were frequently played in a room full of drunken soldiers that are not usually know for their finesse and careful handling of delicate items.

Soooo do I have 300 albums? Yes.

Can even one of them be called "super high quality"? That is very, very doubtful.

Now before everybody faints you need to keep in mind that back then albums were not the domain of audiophiles, collectors and hipsters but the only way we had to play our music! They were relatively cheap and actually almost semi disposable although I do know some people would disagree with that since they had the luxury of good equipment and no drunken Army buddies.

When cassettes and the players became cheaper (they were very expensive at one time) the albums and the traditional milk case holders all went in the basement and although I have moved them for 30 years I have never once even pulled one out of the sleeve. They could all be melted or shattered chunks of vinyl now for all I know.

Oh and @soulreapersteve @humfrz @ultramaroon @Dadhawk "back in the day" story alert!

Early (in a home made case though)

LOL I dont like them because of 'hipster' stuff. I like them because of the sound quality 'shhh' sound they made as they played like something burning or softly crunching.

Also, because they 'rare-ish.' hehe

One man's trash...

My son in law love albums but he falls squarely in the "hipster" category when it comes to them. He once told me "you just can't appreciate the tone quality that an album has". He is right I can't because it is just a freakin' record to me.
